Meanwhile over at STL and MCI we have two shuttles going to the airport almost every time I overnight there.
But yes, I agree. No more bases

If you think Sutcliffe makes that decision, I got some swamp land to sell you. SWA has been using that formula before that guy was even born. He is the analytics department. Decisions are not solely based on the one dude. It’s a money decision. Pure and simple. Unfortunately it’s at your expense and the people that live in DEN. When the time comes to do SEP process for scheduling, make sure your voice is heard. The problem is the majority of the eleven thousand plus will also have to make displacements high on the “must list.” Big loop hole for sure. Hopefully it gets addressed one way or the other.

so when network planning decides that 15 airplanes will no longer be overnighting in DEN because of RE flying, Sutcliffe and his dept have to decide if the lines will comply with the CBA without the EMO’s (can’t have EMO’s with no plane). They decided they couldn’t comply with the CBA and/or it wasn’t the best crew utilization…so they displaced people.
Since Crew planing builds the lines…I want to know who the moron was that thought it was a smart, efficient use of crew utilization to kick people out of DEN to LAS and then having LAS trips with 3 DEN overnights.

Yeah I am not sure why we are talking about new bases. We aren’t even done staffing the one they just created out of thin air and corporate welfare.
My personal take on San Diego is that it has become just another big airport since they opened the new terminal. Granted, construction isn’t doing them any favors, but San Diego has firmly hit the practical boundaries of its capacity with a single runway that has some San Dieg-isms when it comes to switching directions due to wind or weather. It has gotten to the point where big delays are common and things just don’t move like they should. It used to be a very dependable and quick station to turn a lot of flights, but it has become bogged down with everyone trying to shove as much capacity in there as they possibly can.

network planning moves the planes around where they’re most efficient based on load factors, etc and crew planning decides how that gets staffed.
so when network planning decides that 15 airplanes will no longer be overnighting in DEN because of RE flying, Sutcliffe and his dept have to decide if the lines will comply with the CBA without the EMO’s (can’t have EMO’s with no plane). Personally, I’d rather sit rsv at home and drive to work. We’ll see if I can get back before summer is over…secondary vacancies aren’t helping and there’s no plans for any + vacancies in DEN anytime soon.
