It affected me too, and I was never based there. But a bunch of the displaced pushed me out my base, and then I couldn't get back in for months. If ROR awarded any displaced pilot before voluntary bids, I'd have been back in a month. But the language isn't written that way, and voluntary bidders were able to come in ahead of me, month after month, all because the ROR language is very weak. I think that's the issue most of us have a problem with. And with no positive-space commute language and very minimal hotel coverage for displaced pilots, the cost of displacements makes it the cheap, easy option. I hope we'll work to rectify that in the next CBA.

True, but it's not everything. We have plenty of negotiated CBA items that aren't 100% seniority-based. The open time cap, out-of-base/on-vacation open time rules, open time priority, the new vacation bidding system, even the current ROR language (when there are positive vacancy numbers) -- all of those provisions supersede seniority to a degree.
I believe displacements are another area where domicile stability in our pilots' lives should be a higher priority than just seniority. Nobody displaced? Then seniority wins. Displaced pilots waiting to get back home? They should have priority on all awards -- not just positive vacancy numbers. Just like Open Time Priority puts junior guys ahead of senior bidders in MOT when they are put below guarantee due to overlap drops. It's all in what we negotiate.

I disagree, but each of us gets a vote. 93% of us voted for the displacement and right of return language as written, which is an improvement over what it was.
Every time we react to something to fix perceived unfairness, we seem to pay the price in a loss of flexibility.
