For those of you who may be new to the airline business, and who have the flexibility to do so: do NOT defer a class. Take the earliest class you can possibly get and then call every week to see if any openings have come available in earlier classes.
Seniority is everything. Everything.
In my career one earlier class would have meant the difference between a furlough or remaining on property. It could mean the difference between reserve or a line. Weekends off or not. An upgrade or an extended time in the right seat. You want the best odds you can get to be where you want to be when the music stops and if you think it can't happen to you, you're dead wrong.
Take the first class you are offered. Always.

Totally agree.
As one who very recently got the call, I'm just trying to speculate when class might be.

Class is 6 weeks if you go straight to sim after the classroom portion, or you might have some time off before starting sim. Bring your spouse to the first couple days of class and the welcome party the night before if you can, it's fun for everyone. I'm not sure what the training is like now that they dropped the type requirement, but before it was very laid back and it was dumb to not go home on the weekends. You are required to do 4 jumpseat observations, so you might as well do them while commuting home during the weekends. We had two weeks where we were in class for a few hours on Saturday morning, but otherwise off on Sat/Sun during classroom portion and done in time to make happy hour at the hotel. Sim is a 4 hour block plus pre/de-brief. Go to the deck parties, at least a couple of them, and try to make it to a ball game or something with classmates to relax a little. Having a car is nice but there are usually at least a few in class that will have one if you don't. Oh, and make sure to eat some Fuzzy Tacos while you're down there! You'll get your IOE schedule during sim. Usually get at least 2-3 days off minimum, sometimes more, before IOE.
Congratulations!

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

I would say that's pure speculation at this point. Negotiations and mediation is ongoing with no specific details being released at all. Maybe we'll see a TA to vote on soon, but nobody really knows for sure.
