True. I haven't been able to bring myself to throw down for a Leather Jacket that doesn't even fit right and I know I'd never want to wear. I'd be a little more inclined to pay for an approved lightweight Jacket that's water resistant of the Patagonia or North Face variety.

Just had a conversation with my CP today. I am not the uniform police.......but please try to conform with the standards. Or join a committee to change the uniform requirements. Easy for me to say again (as a former Marine), but your comfort is really unimportant.

I guess I really struck a nerve with you with the whole leather jacket thing!!! I guess you can say I used to wear pajamas all the time if you must know.. (Flight suit) Nowhere did I suggest I was straying from the uniform standards nor advocating such.. I was just just referring to the the email from our VP of Flight ops that said that they were exploring options for a new "official" black lightweight jacket.

I recently flew with an FO who came from another carrier. Had to endure how smart he was because he wasn't willing to pay for an approved leather jacket. The one he had was barely acceptable. Wanted to pour gasoline on myself and light a match.....he was sooooo smart.
Discussion with the CP was based on my observations recently. One of our pilots with a jacket that was more of a robe. A trip to the hotel with an FO with a Lands End jacket on. Lose the tie at least so I won't have to keep from saying something. The leather jacket is much more useful than the blazer. Had to carry the London Fog overcoat if the weather was bad back in the old days.
Just pointing out that the uniform standards are what they are. For some, it is all about being comfortable. Again, I really don't care about your comfort. Frankly, I wear the tie all day and don't feel uncomfortable at all. Yes if your wondering, I even wear the Hat The horror! I wear the hat because it bothers some people. I am all about making those people squirm. They know who they are.

Got the memo Burton. Looking forward to an approved light weight jacket. No comparison to the flight suit needed. When you strap your behind in to a rocket it better be comfortable. Sorry if I came off harsh.

I interviewed last January and was turned down. I can re-apply in January. I have been reading this and other threads and it sounds like my next opportunity may be very soon. I don't know what I did that sunk me, and I really want to make a better impression if I get another shot. I have a lot of military buddies at SWA and every one of them told me that it was mine to lose when I got the interview. Obviously, I did or said something the interviewers did not like. After my retirement from active duty, I flew for a regional for about 13 months and then took a job as an instructor for a well-known Part 142 school near my home in Texas. When asked why I left the regional, I truthfully said that part of the reason was because my daughter's health had declined and I felt I needed to be closer to home and more accessible. Since then, that aspect of my life has cleared up significantly and I really want to get back in the cockpit. Can any of y'all give me some insight or advice in case I get another interview? I really want to fly for SWA.

FYI: Perrone is taking over 3 months right now. That may be why some newer FO'S are without it. I've been waiting over 3 months for mine.
