I recently spoke with a union rep that was returning home from Mexico where he had been doing prep work prior to our launch into that market. His thoughts were that the company would need at least 25 additional airframes to handle the level of service being discussed as we ramp up service south of the border.
Obviously that is no guarantee of course, but if you look at the amount of spending going on in Houston and Fort Lauderdale in preparation for near international operations, there has to be some additional airframes planned to justify the amount of capital investment currently being undertaken.

An attempt at major expansion into South and Latin America is my guess as well. It's almost a perfect scenario wherein the countries down there need infrastructure upgrades and growth, and SWA has the capital to help them with that in return for waived landing fees, etc.

Big time.
Cuz none of us Clowns have ever worked for another carrier or flown internationally before.
Please save us FAT's (and in return we'll teach how to fly without the use of a moving map).
Dick.

Well, Dick, I've flown with a few RSW captains who were just as lost as I was. When you fly old school once a quarter, it makes a difference.

Thanks Dick but I have numerous type ratings and a few thousand hours of PIC time in round dial transport category aircraft. I think I'll be fine.
