Sick time

You accrue 6 hours per month (normal rate).
If you have 4+ 'instances' per rolling 12 month period, your accrual rate is reduced to 5 hours per month.
If you had a 'negative sick bank' when the new contract started, they deducted another hour per month to 'pay it back'. So you could be down to 4 hours per month.

Unlike Oscar, I don't wear it as a badge of honor. It just is what it is. Sick Time.

Viruses such as the common cold, flu, etc do not care what you eat or don't eat. If you work in airplanes and airports, you will get sick, period.
My point is that if you are sick, especially with something that is contagious, stay home. Find some other way to tell everyone what a great employee and shining example of humankind you are.
Over and Out.

There are some people who use every minute of sick time because they get sick a lot. There are people who use every minute of sick time because they can. There are people who rarely use sick time because they are healthy. There are people who rarely use sick time because they work sick. It goes both ways.

There is a difference between "never calling in sick" and maxing out a sick bank. Some people get sick more often than others. Does general health have something to do with it? Absolutely.

Also, some sick banks are easier to "max out" because they only accrue at a very low rate.

Really? Are you serious? This is an anonymous forum and I am not looking for anyone to impress. I am pointing out that there are people who think differently from you and the WM. Everyone can make up their own minds about whether my argument or yours is valid.

We have plenty of people who have come to SWA who think the way you do. You can throw accusations at me to mask the fact that calling in sick when you are not sick is an abuse of the benefit. As I said before, I am not perfect. Claiming that the only reason why my sick leave is maxed out is because I fly sick is simple minded. It also doesn't address the fact that threatening to call in sick to stick it to someone or make more money is, at the very least,................a crappy attitude. I know, I know, you got screwed so it is okay to screw many who had nothing to do with your career issues.
I'm a dot!

I said none of what you wrote, yet you attributed it to me anyway.

I will admit to not re-reading all of your posts since I was out of country for 13 days and posting some incorrect info. Maybe some jet lag also is to blame.
Except that you did suggest that I was probably flying sick in your post #20 that I referenced. So yes, part of my post was correct.
You did however never contradict the WM and others about calling in sick for monetary gain or to stick it to who knows who. Therefore based on that fact I put you and the WM in the same category. Again trying to distract others ( with comments such as "soap box" and "badge of honour", etc.) by claiming I am posting for some sort of recognition on an anonymous forum is laughable. I think differently than you plain and simple.
So all of us can know. Please tell us how the great MP feels about those who call in sick for monetary gain or when they are not ill.

MaxPower,
Chirp...........chirp.........chirp.
Yeah I pretty much thought you and WM were similar. A while back I asked the WM where he should have been on an SLI that would satisfy him (in a generic sense, no specifics so as to not reveal his/her identity) and he did not have the gonads to answer. Now I ask you a direct question about the improper use of sick leave and...............
Who knows? Maybe you have not had the time to post. We will see.

Re-read my posts, and you'll find that no response was required.... I never advocated abusing sick time, I merely said I resented people flying while sick and then holding themselves out as as a paragon of virtue. If the shoe stinks, it's probably yours.
Over, and out, again, stinkfoot.
P.S. I'm sure you're an absolute joy to fly with, even when you're not sick, yet you provably have no idea why you fly with a different FO every trip.
