But......

Nearly 40% of your co workers voted to ratify a blatantly concessionary TA, just a few short months ago.

They are STILL out there. Need proof? Count the flag ties next time you go to work...........

To the OP......

The opportunities at DAL and the other majors are going to be unbelievable for the foreseeable future. At SW, not so much. You will work your a$$ off at SW compared to any other major.

Given the choice, I'd move to a DAL domicile and enjoy a major airline pilot career vs. that of a (better paid) regional.

It's getting so bad here that we have guys bailing like rats off a sinking ship.

Heck, there's rumor of a 16 year Captain that is getting his stuff together to bolt.

If I was 15 years younger, I'd give serious thought to putting some apps out..... The commuter pilot schedule gets old after a few decades.
Unfortunately it's not that easy for some of us to move to a Delta base. You could pay me $500k a year and it still wouldn't be enough to move to a Delta base.

The previous vote doesn't matter any longer. It failed and that's that! It is now up to the NC and SWAPA to decide "WHEN" TA2 is acceptable to put out for a vote. This is negotiation 101.

The Company will try to negotiate with the pilots but JW and his group are smarter than that. Airline labor TA's, when presented the second time around, have over a 90% pass rate regardless of the changes (good, bad or indifferent). That is why it is incumbent on the NC to not put any TA out until they believe it is worthy.

If you live (and want to stay where you are at) within a 3 hour drive of any of the three NYC airports, Delta would be a very good option. For those who want NYC, you can basically double your career earnings if not more out of that base.

The flying variety out of NYC is awesome. Within 2 years you can have your pick of about anything you want there including narrowbody captain slots. Local guys right now on the 330 are loving the 3-day Europe trips that pay 20 hours. Fly to Rome, stay for a day, fly back. That is some easy money making right there.

I drive 2:15 to base right now. Depends on how much you like driving. I don't mind the drive to work at all but it isn't in NYC traffic. Biggest negative is it basically takes away your ability to bid day turns or pick up extra flying very short notice. Reserve in NYC is an unwritten rule of 3 hours to report during normal weather and traffic.

As opposed to CA? No thanks to the taxes, traffic, and liberals.

I live on the water in FL, keep my boat behind my house, attempt to fish more days than I fly in a month (failing miserably at that right now), pay no state income tax, wear flip flops all year long, and wake up in a part of the country every day that millions of tourists flock to each year. But then again different strokes for different folks.

Unfortunately living here requires I take a pay cut if I want to drive to work.

I'm with you, but there are a few who actually want to live there. I've got a buddy who lives an hour from JFK on Long Island....lived there his whole life and doesn't want to leave. His job at Delta is an entirely different job than mine (SLC based). If you can pull it off and want to live there, the NYC base for Delta guys can be a very good thing.

Thanks for all the input. What I expected was to hear a lot of... SWA reviews about how good it is. Is the QOL at DAL just as good as SWA? Obviously you'd need to work at both to know. However is anyone leaving SWA for Delta?

Wearing flip flops and living in So-Cal..... How foreign that must be. Oh yeah, with no humidity or bugs the size of Rhode Island. And of course no one flocks to CA. Can't imagine why we have so many congressmen and electoral votes....Hmmmm!
