Oh. Please. It's an open forum. One of my best friends is one of your most senior captains. He has gone to the road shows, and talked to your expensive, useless ALPA lawyers. He is horrified by this deal. When it's our turn in the hot seat I would welcome any input from all pilots, regardless of carrier. The idea is to move forward. I walked the line with you last time and will happily do so again.
This sentiment says a lot. I doubt your friend really went to a road show, or if he did I doubt he went in with an open mind. |

And yes, calling a union lawyer “useless” when you’re on the side of labor is moronic, at best. That’s the same lawyer you’ll be calling when you make a mistake on the line and the company is gunning for your job. How “useless” are they then? |

In fact you called this a concessionary contract in a previous post. This TA has over $920 million in gains opposed to $64 million in work rule give backs. About a 14 to 1 ratio. Do think ALPA and the NC and the MEC is lying to us? Do you have better numbers than the ALPA financial analyst? So with an average pay increase of 43%, a DC plan that we didn't have before, a much improved LTD plan, better rigs, and better scope, are you still saying it's concessionary? I understand why some very senior here don't like the TA. The loss of transition conflict means they can't get either 4 or 6 days off in the next month pay-protected, setting themselves up for a junior assign on top of that. Problem is the majority can't get that deal. |

I respect a healthy measure of skepticism, so if ALPA is underestimating the $64 million, then by how much? And did you bring it up at the road show or with your rep or email the negotiating committee? What did they say?

I’ve never believed those numbers on any contract by any group. Why not just take $64 million from the pay rates and take out all concessions. The answer is the company will nevee go for it. Each side puts a cost on certain items. If you negotiate right, the other side underestimates the costs. I’m going to say ALPA is under-estimating that $64 million.
