The flying block hours went up to ~50,000 hrs for the summer, all hands on deck! I've talked to my guys in training, CUG is "slowing" for the next couple months and will go "up" after the summer. This isn't my first 121 gig so I only believe what I see. 4 isn't go.

 

We're taking only one aircraft delivery in Q2 and only 2 in Q3. Add to that the summer push and you have to expect a modest upgrade schedule. Q4 growth currently has 7 aircraft according to the fleet plan so I'd expect training to ramp back up as we approach fall.

 

Ive only worked 2 days this month on R11. Also got a sweet X list trip that subsequently cxld. 90hrs with under 3hrs of block. I worked more when I checkerboarded lol.

So whats the reality of your April schedule?

 

NC stated that company wide average rsv utilization pre CBA 2018 was about 30ish hrs. I imagine March and April was similar with work rules having only small changes. Moving into May and forward with the new contract one would expect that average block per month to actually go down for rsv with the rescheduling of line holders and no transition conflict for lineholders. Now without transition conflict or middle drops for rsv it creates more availability for each rsv which might translate into more block per month. Also, with the company adjusting their hiring and upgrade plan for the new staffing requirements it could up utilization of rsv.

Ive heard reports of both depending on base, seat, and RAP. Rsv not getting used at all because of lineholders gobbling up open time at straight pay and I’ve also heard that March and April some rsv got used more than they ever have before.

 

Keep in mind also that time balancing is no longer in effect; it’s all seniority now (junior getting the call first, unless on the ‘call me first’ list). April was my highest month ever on reserve (as Captain or FO).

 

Correct but only up to 72hrs. If a rsv is going to break guarantee with an assignment they can assign it to a more senior pilot at schedulings discretion.

Also, at our current size I imagine it’s not incredibly common to have multiple guys on the same RAP with the same number of days available. Only after that does seniority come into play for the assignment.

I’d imagine it differently. Case in point, my April flying.
That said, I commute on reserve, so I actually like flying, the quality of the trips in open time though.....

 

Yeah I’d bet it’s base and seat and rap specific. Honestly my hope on rsv if they were going to fly me was to get the most unproductive trip possible. Chances of breaking guarantee are so slim I’d rather just do one leg days with long overnights. As a lineholder that all changes. Productivity baby. Three 25hr four days or back to back two day trips would we ideal. 75hrs 18-19 days off would be ideal. Rsv- who cares it’s 72hrs for 12-13 days off anyway
