It's not like the swap would take place overnight. We'd have to train new Boeing pilots as well as transition over the AB pilots. It would take years, if not the better part of a decade to completely swap over.

Still radio silence???? Very odd considering the Paris Airshow ended a few weeks ago. I’m starting to think Boeing’s chances are improving. An Airbus add-on (or even just adding the new A220s) should have been a slam dunk...

They have said many times now recently, no announcement until third quarter.
Obviously this is all speculative at this point. No doubt some hard negotiating going on to the benefit of Spirit and the shareholders with the lowest price possible for any order. Look forward to any updates! |

Even without a new order the total A/C count has grown now for EOY 2021. They picked up a couple WOW birds awhile back. There is nothing indicative that this place is just going to be fat, dumb and happy with 170ish airplanes. I know it sucks waiting. It is what it is. |

Now it is clear that Boeing is ready to negotiate harder after the MAX setbacks and no doubt winning a huge volume order from Spirit (maybe join SWA with the MAX 7 for the thinner or development routes and the MAX 9 or 10 for the trunk routes) would be viewed as a strong vote of confidence in the MAX platform...

You think an airline that has invested considerably in turning around its image is going to announce a full fleet replacement for an airplane that will still be grounded during a Q3 announcement? I can see it now; Spirit to replace Airbus aircraft with the Boeing 737 Max that is still grounded with a return to service date still unknown.
