Insisting on keeping it was a waste of negotiating capital.
How about the min RES day blocks, anyone care to comment?
I guess the real question is how much negotiation capital was it actually worth? Do any of us know if we could have got more money, better rigs etc for it in the first place? Maybe the company was willing to offer something to abolish it, maybe not.

Rumor has it that the company offered an additional $10/hour across the pay scale. Who knows, probably wasn’t true, but there definitely was some offer made that the union couldn’t accept because it simply wasn’t for sale due to the mandate they received by the pilots they represented.

Never sell work rules for money! Learn from history!

Now exchange for other work rules...

4 days off is worth something. guess what it is. 4 days off in a row. 4 is worth exactly 96 hours or more free of work. if you don't like it. then waive it. up to you. but don't say its not worth something. last i checked its worth 4 days.

You can request 4 days off in a row with navblue else start next (then reserve)

Guess what happens if you're too junior to hold a line without 4 days in between? Reserve.

That's what I mean. You can create your own 4 days off, and if the software has the pairings to do it, it will. If it doesn't, it won't. The "requirement" was wasted negotiating capital, that's what I mean

so if you're senior you get what you want. and if you are junior you don't? is that new? even if you get reserver you'll still get 4 days off between work segments. same as now.

Right, nothing is new. You clearly have never used PBS if you don't understand how the REQUIREMENT of 4 days off is not as powerful as you think it is.

Waiving 4 off in a row does not equal less off days per month; it simply changes how your off days are allocated each month.

Thank you.

And guess what. If mandatory 4 off went away, and we all bid to get 4 days off in a row, nothing would change.. that's how PBS works. People who can't grasp this don't understand what PBS is and how it works.

On the other hand, mandatory 15 days off would require better pairings from the company because lower lineholders still have to have 15 off and those 10 hour 3 days in Vegas don't make the cut.

As a follow up for those who are trying to understand how pbs works; it is primarily concerned with the assigned credit range for the given month and getting you into that range. The higher your trip values are the faster you get to the targeted credit and pbs finishing your schedule. If you have more days off, or less days off, it is specifically due to the value of the trips you asked for or were awarded. Waiving the 4 days off simply allows for more flexibility in the type of schedules you can create for yourself, as well as allows pbs to get you to the required credit value for the month. Otherwise you are limiting the system and are more likely to send your bid into denial mode or be awarded a form of relief/reserve schedule.
