If you think guys aren't sucking up open time at straight pay you're incorrect. We aren't going to run into any shortage of pilots anytime soon. We'll be just fine over the summer. Sure maybe a day or 2 here and there but we aren't short pilots. Transition fixed a lot of issues for the company. I just saw the new upgrade and new hire numbers. You guys are going to be surprised and unhappy.

Thank you for stating why I voted no, our reserve rules (esp once pbs starts) are horrible now and everyone happily gave them away.

I'm not doubting you looked at something, but the newhire numbers have literally jumped between 400 and 37 over the last several months. The new dude that took over for RR was laughing when he shared that info.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as it appears the company has no clue yet how PBS is actually going to affect staffing. Transition was a win for them, but it really looks like they're over playing the PBS hand. No way you can add 12 more planes over the next 3 months and think we're not going to be short staffed by summertime considering the lack of hiring.

You and dfwboy need to chill out, it's frickin January.

Everyone knows the new reserve rules are the only reason 70% voted yes.

Be sure to thank your negotiators.

Why not thank the 70%?

Don't think for one minute just because you have the ability to input a value that the software doesn't already have a hard command build in. The fact is Bendo is mad that the gains aren't being seen with PBS. Navblue told Bendo you need a fleet of 300 before you'll see any gains. He asked why did we give them the 5hr average and better trip rig if the company didn't get any gains from PBS??? That's a matter of paying attention and understanding a mathematical world. This is another example of why we should never give on the 4 days off min. A senior Eastern pilot told me you can give money back but you NEVER give work rules back! That’s quite a lot of specifics. We’re you in the room when Bendo said this? Our five hour average is duty period which is below industry average of calendar day. 3.5:1 is industry average.

So I want 3/4-day trips that start as late as possible on Wednesday/Thursday, end as early as possible on Saturday/Sunday, and get as much credit as possible. I need to be of from Monday morning till Wednesday afternoon. Next month will be similar, but it could be off on Wednesday and Thursday.

The problem is Nav-Blue can sort, but not for bids, so I have to make multiple bid-lines for what should be an easy sort:
Award pairings with credit 21 hours
Award pairings with credit 20 hours
Award pairings with credit 19 hours
but also by check in, and check out.

If I want to "sort" by 1 hour credit change between 30 and 15, and a 2 hour windows for check-in/check-out (with an 8 hour blackout for night hours), I am looking at 15*8*8=960 bid-lines.

If next month the day changes by one, i have to change each individual line (I can select multiple line with the same parameters, but not edit those????)

What the....

At the very least I should be able to sort pairings by Credit/TAFB, and start late, arrive early. If there is anything a computer should be better than me it is sorting a big amount of data in an order I want.

Prefer off Mondays 8am to 23:59
Prefer off tuesdays
Prefer off Wednesdays 00:00-14:00
Award pairing if pairing release time is Saturday before noon if pairing length > 3 pairing average daily credit > 5;30
Award pairing if pairing release time is Sunday before noon if pairing length > 3 pairing average daily credit > 5;30

Fyi navblue always goes for max credit inside of an award line. You're looking for away to make it sound like the software is a piece of crap but it isn't. Find me a line in any base any seat any month of the year that has your requirements and I'll shut up.

That bid I posted above is a good start. Of course you can keep cascading the credit down etc. The only question I have is: what do you mean by early release sat/sun. Would a 18:00 release Saturday for 20:0 crwsit be better than a Sunday release at noon for 21:00? That's a crucial difference in bid strategy

So I have never used PBS, and I am just going based on the examples from the union, and they all have bidlines with staggered credit. I did not know Navblue will give me the highest credit possible, where did you find that?

There is still a big difference between starting at 7 AM or starting at 9 PM, so (for me) even if I don't have to stagger the credit, I would still stagger by TAFB or check-in, and check-out. I definitely think it is "amazing" that I can sort pairings for display by every parameter possible, but for bidding I have to stagger with multiple bidlines, as opposed to being able to bid:
Award pairing if 4 day, sort by latest check-in, or something like that.

There definitely has not been a single line since I have been at NK that has all my requirements, so I am exited about PBS.

You have a very positive outlook, so I think you will very much enjoy this software.

So basically there are a couple of ways to accomplish what you want to do, Myabe a cascade like this:

Award pairings if average daily credit > 6:00 if pariing check in time is after 17:00 if pairing length =4

Award pairings if average daily credit > 5:30 if pariing check in time is after 17:00 if pairing length =4

Award pairings if average daily credit > 5:00 if pariing check in time is after 17:00 if pairing length =4

Award pairings if average daily credit > 4:59 if pariing check in time is after 17:00 if pairing length =4

Award pairings if average daily credit > 6:00 if pariing check in time is after 14:00 if pairing length =4
Award pairings if average daily credit > 5:30 if pariing check in time is after 14:00 if pairing length =4

Award pairings if average daily credit > 5:00 if pariing check in time is after 14:00 if pairing length =4

Award pairings if average daily credit > 4:59 if pariing check in time is after 14:00 if pairing length =4

and so on and so forth however you like. there are a few other ways to approach this (especially if we had the Redo from line feature) but this is probably the most straight forward non confusing way.

I have 60+ lines in my group. I've seen delta and jetblue guys with 120+ lines in their group, so don't worry.

It does suck if the time changes though, I wish navbblue had referential bidding. but it's ok we will make do!
