This is just inaccurate. The Bus is very loud below FL320 and will cause hearing loss. There are a lot of us who protect our hearing and don’t use community headsets. Get a good setup, protect your hearing, and don’t be a gross common user.

DickBurns 07-08-2019 04:24 PM

Most people that think sharing a headset is gross will probably grab their junk to take a leak and wash their hands after the fact. Everything is gross... It makes you stronger.

It takes until your background check is 100% complete. Our class that took 2-2.5 weeks.

I guess some people enjoy little things like strep throat...me...not so much.

Not to worry! I always lick the mic clean when done with the headset.

I do the same and then down a cup of 319 coffee. My immune system is bulletproof!

I use a Telex 850, and usually ask the other guy if he minds if we keep it until top of climb and when we start our descent. If it's a short flight, like 30-45 min. I'll keep it on for the entire flight. Most guys are ok with that. Radio calls comes in more clear on the 850 than the airplane speakers.

Any chance of being hired with less than 2,500hrs total?

I meet all the other requirements.

Well you know mins are 3,000?

Free to apply but probably a snowballs chance to be hired with over 500 hours short of the bare mins, and over 1500 hours short of the preferred mins

Still, free to apply

Yep. Figured my odds are going to be low. But I’ll give it a go and hope for the best. Much appreciated.

I am curious how long a new hire can expect to wait til holding MCO?

MCDUmanipulator 07-10-2019 01:01 PM

In the latest class that started this week new hires were told anything but Vegas will be obtainable within 2 months.

Not so sure about that. In my crash pad are Nov 18 hires still waiting for MCO. Looks more like a year. Maybe with the increased hiring there will some movement and it’s gonna change. They have to put all the new hires somewhere...

no way to accurately predict this. aug bid shows most junior fo in las is a 10/01/18 hire. las is not growing so i would expect 9months to a year

It has been as far as flight schedules this year. We started BUR and SMF at 3 flights a day along with 4 daily to SEA and 3 for PDX (Which is an increase). There's also an increase in OAK and SAN out of LAS. I would expect some vacancy for LAS later on this year.

The latest vacancy bid had only FOs with over 2 years on property bidding in. Expect MCO to be a smaller and senior base until the new terminal opens and we get more gates. VP of flight ops said no new gates until mid year 2020.

Meet the Chiefs

Hey, this is my first time posting, not sure if this is the right place. Anyone know how you find out when and where they are having Meet the Chief events?

Super cool you don't have facebook. Having said that, it is the place the dates for the MTCs are published, so that in and of itself might be enough reason for a prospective applicant at NK to have FB. Also, if you don't want to be helpful, maybe just don't....

I was helpful, I pointed him in the right direction that it was on Facebook but I dont have anymore info because I don’t have one.

(And yes Mr. PC police I know I assumed this person was a him instead of a woman, non-gender or some new made up gender that you “progressives” like to come up with these days.)

Halon1211 08-03-2019 02:45 PM

Sooooo, assumed you weren't helpful on purpose, apologies.
The last MTC on facebook I saw were all for 2018...

As far as assuming your gender, IDK&IDC

Also, don't post after red-eye.

Hmm that doesn’t sound like you. You usually like to police the forums when it comes to that stuff. But yes, please make sure you don’t post after red eyes...

It is odd how hiring in this industry works. I submitted my app with Spirit less than a week ago and just recently got the email for phone interview. No internals, no MTC, no job fairs. 8300 TT, 2300 TPIC. Keep trying guys and best of luck!

Took me almost 2 years to get in here back in 2014.

Back in 2013-14 when Spirit was using Aerocrew job fairs, the tickets would sell out within seconds of being made available. Not exaggerating. If you had a slow internet connection you were SOL.

The ticket vendor Aerocrew used (Eventbrite I think it was) servers couldn't handle the pounding the instant the tickets went on sale at 12:00 EST and crashed. Aerocrew ultimately had to use a different outfit and the tickets sold out immediately when they were made available again a few hours later.

Oh how the times have changed.

I remember the tickets going on sale at 12:00. I checked out and got my confirmation at 12:02 and I was #140 out of 250.

Hello all, my application has been “under review” since March and I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to help it along. I assume some face time would help, are there any Meet the Chiefs events coming up? I know I’ve missed most of the association conferences already this year. Anything else you can recommend? Thanks.

Hey there; curious, did you end up getting on with a regional and getting your unrestricted ATP? I saw previously you did not have one. So if not, you’ll need that to meet the mins.

If you do, you need some face time. I have no idea how they do MTC events, thinks it’s on Facebook. But find any way for face time with the company if you want to distinguish yourself from the stack of applicants.

Honestly with the huge hiring wave about to start here next month at Spirit, I wouldn’t be surprised if they once again find themselves with a shortage of “qualified” applicants; so anything to get face time I think would be huge. Last time we had a shortage of applicants we dropped the mins to a pulse and breath and were hiring on the spot at MTC events.

That’s true and a lot of them don’t want to take the paycut to $56 with $1750/mo for two months with no health insurance. And quite honestly I don’t blame them. We as group dropped the ball on new hire pay and benefits. I hear already in this big hiring push we are starting to get some “interesting” folks just like right before the contract.

First year pay everywhere else except frontier is about $90 with healthcare and 15-16% retirement contribution from day one.

phly 08-10-2019 04:51 PM

I've snagged myself an interview for Sept 5th. Super excited. Anyone else?

Thanks for the reply. Yep I’ve been at a regional for a year and a half with unrestricted ATP, about to head to upgrade. I’ve searched around for their MTC events on fb and elsewhere, still looking.

5300TT 1100TPIC (Part 91) and Part 91 CP

I’ll keep trying. Is it common for applications to sit on “under review” for a long time?

6000TT 1000TPIC (All 121) and 3 type ratings with college 2 internal recs and no skeletons still won’t get ya past “under review” since Jan.

Dropped the ball? Far from. You don't waste negotiating capital on people who aren't on property. If the pay is preventing the company from getting quality candidates they will become very eager to go back to the negotiating table. In exchange for higher first year pay, the association will seek improvements in the contract that will help pilots who are on property and paying dues.
