Not sure what the big deal is?? Sounds like a move by our favorite “hey we almost lost the SWA jumpseat cuz I’m a tool” captain.

Of course you compare it to working an office job because that’s what we are saying, if we didn’t have this job, it would be an office job. The topic came from “living the dream”, not “living the spirit dream”.

I get you’re always trying to keep people focused on raising the bar; but this isn’t a conversation on value of a spirit pilot vs spirit pilot. It’s this career vs not this career. It’s what we have vs “I can’t fly, not what”

And for the record, if Verlander couldn’t fly (pitch) anymore, he sure could enjoy his life motorboating those big’uns.

I see what you did there...

Yep, I’ve had casual conversations with him over breakfast at the Detroit short stay, where he stops on his way to work for a free meal. He’s an embarrassment to our pilot group.

Or the guy that calls the chief pilot when the FO misses a placard.

How is it toolish to not accept a RSV assignment outside of your RSV window? Maybe the guy values his time at home more than a few extra bucks. Maybe he's tired of the company's pleas for help to save them from the quarterly self-induced IROP. Maybe he got sued by the company for not working overtime during negotiations. Maybe he didn't want to miss the next day's episode of the Wheel.

It is never toolish to not accept an assignment outside the window. Trying to negotiate outside the contract....

This is dead on. Take it from a lawyer. My job follows me day and night. Weekdays and weekends. It’s misery.

What’s that you say? Find a different career? I’m working on it...

I almost can’t wait to meet this guy. He’s so infamous I can’t wait to share a van ride with him. Ask him if he’s ridden Southwest lately .
