I made roughly $130k in year two with a modicum of hustle and landed only one premium trip. It really depends on how hard you want to work, and how many days you want to be at home. A 2.5 year FO would be relatively senior at Spirit. You could try for min guarantee and make $100-110 while getting 17-19 days off a month or try to string together some 25 hour four day trips and get closer to $140-150k. And some just depends on whether you’re free to take that premium trip when and if the call comes.
So just to clarify since I was actually wondering about this before I start in a couple weeks...

Half guarantee on the 30th check, and the other half plus per diem and extra pay etc from the previous month on the fifteenth?

Overall this is a very laidback pilot group and people that care only about money don’t fit well and end up frustrated. Would I like to make more money to upgrade my fishing boat? You bet, but not at the expense of not having the time off to enjoy it.

Some time ago and old buddy that works in finance in Wall st called me to tell me that the next week he had 3 days available to fly down to FL for fishing. He said it was last minute and almost impossible for me to make it work, specially in the middle of the week. I looked at my schedule, had a trip on those days. Went to the grid, was green... boom sayonara trip. Texted my buddy 3’ later. We had a great time. I was able to pick up a couple of mediocre trips and made up most of the $. I know he makes around 350k+/year, but I wouldn’t trade my job for his in a million years.

If this little story made you think “this is what I want”, then NK is for you. If you’ll be constantly comparing how much money DL and UPS guys are making, then I suggest you keep trying them. Getting a call from a legacy it’s getting easier and easier.
That flexibility sounds awesome! How does pay work when you drop a trip like that? If you have a line you just don’t get paid for the dropped trip?
