The better question is why are we still running classes and upgrades while offering leaves? Unless the goal is just to burn what cash we have and in that case it’s working well.

One of the interviewees from my interview group is in a May 4 class, and I heard there was an 11 May class. From what I understand, the 11 May class is the final scheduled class.

New hires are only getting $1700/mo. Basically, free.

True that they are cheap but you also still have hotel and training costs. Though to be honest none of that matters (imo) if we are asking for voluntary leaves we shouldn’t still be hiring.

Everyone in the upcoming classes was hired & given an April class date before the insanity started. The April class sizes were later split (spread across April & May) to decrease size. Anyone that did not already have a class date is waiting in an applicant pool.

I‘m glad we didn’t turn people out onto the street who already had class dates. Allowing them to stay & go through training as scheduled is an honorable move.

I’m not saying we should “pull a United” on them and cx the class three days prior, but any classes that are outside the two week notice window shouldn’t be happening when we are asking for voluntary leaves of 1000.

I’d be curious to know the logic behind it. We all know it is highly unlikely that any decisions will be made based on what is best for the pilots having priority over what is best for the stockholders. This is a business after all.

I think there’s still some belief that people and the government are going to get tired of destroying the economy. Especially if deaths don’t soar into the 100,000’s.

This is the same management team that went to court and filed a restraining order against the pilot group after dragging out negotiations for 3 years in the most profitable period in airline history. They’re doing this because new hire pilots are cheap labor and it costs them less to get a senior CA to bid a 50 hour no fly line, or better yet take an unpaid leave of absence. I’m glad they’re honoring the class dates that were offered but let’s not pretend they’re doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.
