in 2015 UA closed their pilot base at SEA. Not too sure how long it had been open but they once flew DC-3s out of there.

Back in the 60s I believe it was the most senior domicile UA had. But after absorbing Northwest, Delta sort of ran them out. A lot of very senior people found themselves commuting to SFO.
There are no guaranteed safe bases. In the course of a career, becoming a commuter sometime is damn near inevitable.

we are not talking about small bases here… we are talking about massive hubs.

The XLR’s are planned for Europe use. They’re not a 757 so you can probably bet the NE bases will get most of them. The NX’s can do the other missions temperature permitting.
