So true. Most of us are quick to forget the post 9/11 state of the industry. Yes, everyone else seems to be hiring at the moment, but stagnation at an airline is nothing new.

Looks like now more than ever would be a good time for the MEC to start posting attrition data with some regularity again. It was pretty clear that management is closely monitoring the attrition with regard to coming up with a solution to "right size" Sounds like we should have that same info too.

If we get really technical, 27 new planes--> (40 - 27= 13) means only 13 planes down at our peak. Say we're being overly liberal and want 15 pilots per plane, thats 195 pilots too many at our peak. I imagine if the number were really that small then it wouldnt even be a concern for management right now or a topic of discussion. 195 pilots will be gone by summer.

27 new planes to offset the downed planes. Leaves 13 planes down at our peak. Total of 195 pilot surplus if we have 15 pilots per plane.
