By the company doing nothing to stem attrition I've been moving up the list quite nicely. Should the company do something to stem attrition those beneath me might actually stay and upgrades continue. Either way I think it's good for me. The first what-if will give us all a real look into the cost of this decision and until then we're all just getting mad about moving up a list or inevitably getting paid. In 10 years I think I'll look back and think about how I moved up an extra 300 spots that were not only more senior to me but also younger than me. I feel for those that are affected by the displacement bid and to you all I hope you do what is best for your family. Now couldnt be a better time to change positions.

Well, you need FOs to stay if you want to upgrade or the company to expand. This is not going to help that situation. The irony is that you probably a recession to grow because it is going to be hard to do it with the Legacies sucking up all the disgruntled pilots. If they stop hiring again then Spronteir will be able to grow. Without a huge recession that could be years from now.

I love how everyone is saying “for the 325 pilots and their families affected by this……”

Newsflash, gonna be way more than 325 families and pilots affected, this could end up displacing 700-800 pilots.

Example- A junior Chicago Captain who can’t hold ORD anymore but can hold DTW will bump a DTW Captain out of DTW. And the Detroit Captain could then elect to head down to Dallas which would bump an additional Captain out of DFW. And the Dallas guy decides to go to Vegas for the easier commute and takes a Vegas slot, which bumps a Vegas Captain over to MCO, which bumps a MCO Captain to FLL.

1 Displacment can effect 6-7 pilots.

325 Displacments is going to wreak havoc on every base and every seat.

Yes this! I’ll be interested in how many captains bid back to first officer in order to not commute. Plenty held off until they could hold captain in their base when they originally upgraded.

Lots of churn to come!

It's not good long term for anyone for FOs to get hired and leave. Eventually, your seniority will stagnate and the airline will, too, as all of the training slots will be taken up by churning new hires. Exactly what is happening now. I am not sure how iron clad the slots are for the new aircraft, but it wouldn't surprise me if they delayed or cancelled orders. The best case scenario is some sort of MOU or LOA to get everyone better pay and stop the bleeding. This will lead to more captain training slots and upgrades and more aircraft.

they won’t delay orders but I bet 319’s and 320CEO’s get parked if it worsens.

Help a noob out, most of the recent NH classes were awarded LAS (with a sprinkling of other bases) and with the upcoming displacement bid most of us are wondering what’s going to happen. The company wants nearly 1500 pilots in FL so can all the noobs expect to be displaced to somewhere in FL? If so, are there big differences between MCO and MIA/FLL in terms of flying, crashpad availability/ cost, or things in general to know?

This unfortunately is the path they will be taking. Heard the 319’s will most likely be parked. Anything they can do to avoid paying us more.

Oh ya Papi, that’s some of that Latin machismo from south Florida you speak of.
