That’s right there was no middle ground as some think. The DOJ came out and said there was absolutely nothing JetBlue could do to make them happy nothing.

This sucks all around and from a JetBlue guy. I know it’s just words but I really think this sucks and hate that it’s happening to a great pilot group.

One of the ways to go to jail for securities fraud is to not report when the business' survival is in doubt

No doubt part of the reason that the reporting was so late.
I already have seen posts on other social media advising people not to book tickets on NK more than a couple months out for fear of losing their money. BK seems almost inevitable.

Some hope though, another CH11 is not off the table. There is no "time limit" before it can happen again, and in CH11 you can be purchased whole. Frontier already made one offer, you guys have a lot to offer to the likes of SW as well, and as much as B6 would probably love to buy you we are broke.

All that said I agree with Rick. Get your logbook in order and start massaging your contacts at other airlines just to be safe.

1) fair point
2) it has hit the general media
3) even a 5-10% drop in new bookings could be a major hit in the circumstances

Spirit is in a doom loop of book-aways. People hearing that Spirit could close their doors so they choose to fly on another airline, which makes them have less revenue, and the company puts out a negative forward looking statement, so more people book away...

Its controlled by federal bankruptcy law, not by state laws. When Spirit files BK, assuming its CH7 liquidation, then the first group paid is the secured debt. Wages for employees are not paid at all until all secured creditors are paid. Wages are paid later, but have a maximum cap, so you could get anywhere from nothing to $15k (which I think the cap is now). But if you're owed $30k its not coming under any circumstance in CH7 since nothing can be paid over the cap.

There probably won't be any "leftover cash" since the assets aren't likely even worth the $2B that's owed to the bondholders.

Another bankruptcy seems inevitable at this point. NK lost significantly more money in Q2 than they did the quarter before they filed the first bankruptcy and there's no end in sight to the revenue problem. The cash on hand is dwindling by the day and most of the furniture has already been burned to keep the house warm. I wish everyone there the best of outcomes, but please don't procrastinate on getting your logbooks and applications ready to go.

The bondholders would have to agree to that purchase. Why would they allow the parts to be sold cheaply and not get anything out of it? Attached to those assets, which aren't really very valuable, is a bunch of debt. Who's want to pay $2B for Spirit right now? The market cap is currently about $50M.

B6 is the last airline that could buy NK. It would be like catching a falling anvil.
