Management gets paid to make this airline profitable and we get paid to move the airplanes.

A new contract will hopefully quiet those who question the business model. I for one enjoy working for an airline providing travel opportunities to those who value a dollar.

Our work rules are better than most. Every guy/gal I fly with share the same positive outlook. Growing pains / change is exactly that... I haven't seen shortcuts in our maintenance nor our training and safety department. I've been here for 8 years and we have many who could play ball for any major yet choose to stay because Spirit is a good place to be - and has the potential to serve its' pilots with a highest quality of life.

Those that complain are in the minority - yet I embrace their opinions - know that all of us are working to make this small airline a great airline.
Good post and all true, I'm part of that 8.4 yr group, and as much as I hate to admit, the most complains are from the 9-8 yrs group. And still pretty unbelievable that some of us are willing to work so unhappy with our company. (I include myself since I don't like to point fingers).

Spirit it's a pretty awesome place to work for, specially when you embrace the job and stop comparing and complaining. Live that day, have some fun and go home.

An argument for what? So you worked for a regional for years for embarrassingly low wages and two seconds after you get hired at a Legacy you think it's appropriate to come on here and talk down to a pilot group that you aren't a part of and clearly have no desire to be? A pilot group that struck for the contract they currently have, which at the time was not only a huge step forward, but also fairly impressive considering that all of the legacies were operating under bankruptcy by contracts. Don't you have anything better to do than hang out on Spirit threads?

Is there a better internet thread to "Hang out" on? I think this one is great but should be moved to the regional forum.

Agreed, but there should be a strict "don't touch" policy with her. Wouldn't want to risk her birthing another moron.

They do get out onto the line, I know of three that have basically come from an aviation college, i.e. Embry-Riddle, taught ground school at Spirit for 2 years, and now are FO's at Spirit, and basically got to skip the regional rat race, are really young, and once they get their time in here, if they desire, can either stay here as a Captain at spirit for the rest of their 40+ year career or bail to another airline like Delta or go overseas with Airbus PIC time and still have 30+ years left to go in their aviation career.

Just don't believe the 2.5 year upgrade that they are using to get folks into the ground school instructor pipeline in their advertising flyers. Yes it is a 2.5 year upgrade for the pilots that got hired in 2012, but for a ground school instructor that got hired in 2012 - he didn't get to get in line for the captain upgrade until 2014.

The only thing you can depend on is that you will be a Spirit FO in 2 years.

The ground instructors I've run into are all top notch, very knowlegeable and book-smart and can make good looking powerpoint slides, but when you ask them about how things work on the line - they can't help you and have to redirect and ask for help from the line pilots or check airmen that are around the campus running the FTDs.

The regional mindset around Spirit is in OCC and the VP Ops office. Not on line. Pilots are done with regionals and want to be treated like a mainline pilot. Most of us don't mind working, but we want a little respect, And cash, that would help.

I got hired early 2013. My upgrade will not be 2.5 years. Not complaining but just stating that the 2.5 yr upgrade is already gone.
