Spirit of NKS

Well who exactly is your source? This dumb thread has 4 rumors in a row ranging from shutdown, to just sitting here, to growth. We are slated to grow, we are recalling pilots, and you have a "source" that says we're looking to shut down....***, over?

Everyone out there on the line is running around saying Spirit is making tons of dough but I'm not sure that is the case? Does anyone have any verifiable PROOF that NK is making money?
Our ULCC model works if REVENUE doesn't fall. Costs are down because fuel has decreased so much since last year. However, for us to remain profitable, you have to put butts in the seats and you can't allow REVENUE to drop.
Personally, I'm concerned about our exposure to DTW and ACY (check out what's happening to the local economies there). We have pulled out of multiple markets now that were touted at the time as being "money makers" (CAE, POS, and possibly SAT). We also have NO domestic feed and we lack frequency of service to these new destinations.
We are too small to absorb losses that the big boys can easily withstand. That is why they have instituted all these "fees." To keep REVENUE levels up. Riddle me this...If the airline is making tons of money, then why would they impose a fee just for the privilege of buying a ticket on us? Seems like a step taken to keep revenue from falling.
Please don't think I'm trying to scare folks. I just wish we were managed by folks who KNOW the airline business (Kelleher, Bethune types, etc), and not the marketing types that are in there now launching "iffy" routes like ORD-MYR and BOS-ACY...

It is the same guys on here with a different rumor every other day. Dont listen to a word they say... it is ALL wrong.

Personally, I can't see us recalling 12 pilots then immediately saying we are going to furlough and park 2 aircraft. It just doesn't make any sense....
However, didn't they do this last summer when we were suppose to have two classes a month for the next two years and then they "surprised us" with that WARN letter that threatened to "furlough or displace up to 250 pilots?"
Who knows what goes through these people's heads in Phoenix? Somebody out there have an aviation crystal ball that looks past five minutes from now?

Keep in mind that we are recalling pilots ONLY because of the 5-day off arbitration award. I would agree there may be some growth opportunities, but for now, we aren't recalling based on growth. Even SWA have said they expect ZERO growth this year. Maybe our experts in P-HOE-NIX know something that all the other talking heads in this industry don't.
I hope that we can start seeing market opportunities and recall because of those reasons! That would be good news!!!

I did answer to the DUDE, but my post was removed by THE MODERATOR since there was a 4 letter word BLANKED out.
Anyway, I am just passing along some of the comments that my sources were telling me. 2 ca from FLL, 1 from DTW and 1 friend from Arizona. I know it is bad news, I feel the frustration with you, I am furlough as well. Missed the first recall by 10 (i guess), and the second by 3-4.
I just hope My sources are all wrong. But we are a breed that loves rumors, and here we are!!

...So, why isn't someone telling us, with accuracy, what's going on with our company?

And also I talk to one of my sources, and he can't corroborate any of the bad news they I've poted...I feel like and idiot, but when furlough you feed on this kind of information. I just hope we all get back to work and on with our lives.
