Hey
, I just want to confirm this one. They called me asking IF I could start my class on oct 11. A short notice isn't it? But she also mentioned that only depends on instructor's availability.

Take care.

Maybe they want to move it up to October 11th because they can't find check airmen that want to do OE during the Thanksgiving holiday??

Have you heard a date for the IPO? Could be that they are going to fit in another recall class end of the year.

ACY or DTW?

Hey guys/girls,
I have a few questions. How is the commuting from ACY? What about crash pads? Apartments? Transportation there? Thank you in advance any help from you is well appreciated.

Those of you recalled previously, how is the training process??

Thank you.

Commute is very easy if you live in a NK destination (i.e. FLL/MCO/TPA/MYR) otherwise it's going to either very time consuming or expensive with the drive to PHL and parking ($60/month).

You are basically going to need a car for transportation, unfortunately. Tropiano will give you a ride for $13 each way to and from the crashpad.

Crashpads usually run 150-250 and can be found. Hotels are hit and miss depending on the season and if its a weekend.

When i was called back, we were given recurrent gs of three days and then a warmup sim, check ride and then straight to the line. I think it's a bit more now, but someone else can answer that better than me.

Welcome back.

Welcome back.

I think now the company is required to give 4 sims if you have been dequaled for more than 24 months. Not sure, someone else can quote that.

I commute out of Philly. A lot easier for me living in the Midwest. I did bring me car down there and I do drive about an hour to ACY. I use the Preflight Parking - 60$/month. There are tolls along the way depending on the route you are taking. But yea, you do need a car. Cabs will add up real quick. Keep in mind that you will do a lot of turns out of ACY.

I think there is one crashpad that I know of owned by a flight attendant. It's $25 a night up to $300 per month. It's apparently ok, with wifi,... We are also getting into winter. I am sure you can find now a good deal to stay at a place on a month to month basis if you get together with some of the other guys in your class.

Training is a breeze. Just review the CBTs and know your procedures.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THAT GOOD INFO...:cool:

Welcome back guys!!!

Those getting a call (PM) the ones asking for what number you are, helps with anxiety.

12-24 (maybe more) this yr, they don't think that everyone in the list of FUR will come back.

Hiring in JAN for FEB.

Bunch of OE hrs for NOV-DEC.

The guys on LEAVE have to comeback by the end of OCT, or KAPUT. (dont know how many and if they will come back).

Company still, today looking for a long term gnd School place. (talks were Airbus bldng or the College library that we use for recurrent).

Cheers.

Plane Ramrod 09-21-2010 12:53 PM

Heard one of the management types in Miramar said the month-month transition is the way it is, because of a language change from the draft to the final, arbitration set for beginning of October. Anybody have any info on the change? I was joking that DRAFT must be some new generic toilet paper... Guess I was right.

Seriously though, anybody know what changed? MEC said no changes.

You sure know alot of inside information. Just to let you know because I know more than you, it won't the airbus bld.

Hey recall dudes, look at how the new contract has extremely low junior capt rates, you can thank sailor for that!!! They engineered it that way so they can get more compensation....The pie is only so big you know, but don't fret, just be lucky to have a job...

Yeah, I heard that mgmt's excuse was that the union "changed" the language before the company signed the documents.

Two thoughts on that:

1. The notes from negotiations and the testimony of the NMB member(s) present should tell with little doubt the intent of the language.

2. Even if the union had some master plan to change the language... they signed it, PERIOD. Isnt that what they pay their lawyers for? You're gonna tell me that they signed something as financially dependant as Sec 25 of a new CBA without proofreading it first.... YEAH RIGHT!

...bottom line, they did it the RIGHT way first, which clearly shows intent. Only after realizing they were completely screwed did they decide to do it the old way. I have spoken to many pilots that saw their line with the correct amount of trip drops, and then a few days later were left with 5 on, 1 off, 5 on, or something like it.

With all the uncertainty with the announced IPO, I am posting this link. It is about the Airline Alliance’s lack of progress gaining partners in South/Central America.
I have heard discussions about Southwest looking at expanding south….and I have heard about the prospects of Delta…..a lot of rumors out there….This one points out the need for Star Alliance to invest in the area…..
I am not trying to fuel the rumors…just giving out a link with some information for those who may be interested….

Welcome back furloughs!

The vacancy awards are out and it looks like we got 16 back from the street- welcome back guys. I recognize a few names and look forward to running into you again in the jet bridge. Looks like this one made it pretty deep; the award shows the last guy with seniority #528. Out of curiosity, how many are out there that haven't received a call yet? What is our lowest number on the street? 540ish?

I'm second from the bottom. No call yet and I think I'm 508. I don't think we have 545 on the list anymore. If I recall that was my number when hired. What are the initials of the lowest called back?

Even though they have updated the list every six months to satisfy the union, they are still using the old seniority numbers from when everyone was furloughed in the bid packet. Mine hasnt changed in 2.5 years. I think your seniority number will be the same as when you left for bidding purposes. I believe there was 546 pilots on that list. Maybe they will clean up the "real" list when we get some new hires on property.

BTW, welcome back to the latest group of 16!
...and to the rest, I hear another bid of similar size is coming shortly.

Left Handed 10-08-2010 10:29 AM

Lowest # on the furlough list is 546. Looks like from #497-519 every 3rd person came back. From #520-528 all but 2 came back. Welcome back everybody:)

Jedinight 10-08-2010 11:14 AM

17 on the list have not been called of which I know of 7 that are not comming back on the first call. Many of the 7 are at VA and will not come back at all.

I did not get a call, but should be back on the next call whenever that is.

Probably need some stability in the training dept. personnel before the FAA will even consider AQP certification. What's the over/under on another manual rewrite/dump coming soon?

Cool. So one more round and everyone is back with some new hires even. Any idea about minimums? I keep getting stopped in terminals and I have no clue.

What is the timing of the next round? Eff Jan or is it later? I guess you all noticed but finally ACY has become senior also on the FO side. It seems the very last guy on this recall has ACY possibly not by choice, the rest could have had FLL. As much as I like to fly with the "Allegheny maffia types" (I really do lol) I am glad I am out of ACY. Things went downhill after I realized that the sodium levels of the soups offered in WaWa were just unacceptable.

As far as AQP, when we did our recall training it seemed they were still undecided. Going with a contractor was expensive. Watching how other projects get canned (i.e. they recently canned the community Jepps idea after canning the full EFBs), I bet it will be an in house project and thus it will take a long while to complete. They are spending every dollar to make the books look better for the IPO. I would expect everything to be canned as long it is not a down payment on a new plane.

I hear the next recall will be eff Jan 1st. New hire classes to follow as soon as furlough list has been exhausted. Minimums for new hires will be 4000tt, not sure about jet PIC or anything else. Online application, with a point based system determining who gets a call.

Real world happened. I know all of them, I like most of them, they are part of NK now. Having said that, hiring them was the biggest "Watch me! I am sticking it to you pilots." move from JC. With Virgin guys coming in, I bet 4000 will not even be competitive.

On an entirely different note, Council 109 Representative nomination meeting is coming up this thursday.

Make your nominations now. This is your best chance to participate in your future.
