Here it is:
Fellow Pilots:
Negotiations under the direct supervision of NMB member Linda Puchala concluded yesterday. I will defer to the negotiating committee to provide any and all relevant details concerning those talks, we did not however, reach an agreement. We expect to hear something from the Board concerning our case, perhaps by early next week.
I have personally received several phone calls, as have many others, concerning proposed rates of pay and other details about negotiations. These reports have apparently come from the "spiritpilots" web board. Whatever is written there is FALSE. Whoever runs that board does not have accurate information. Further, those who run that web board, post on it, or actively participate in the rumormongering that takes place there, are doing this entire pilot group a disservice. If these half-wits on that board actually took the time to pick up their phone and give their REAL Leadership a simple phone call, they could actually get factual information. These people should be shunned, and treated as pariahs as they are actively seeking to undermine and destroy this pilot group. They will not succeed.
So, spread the word. If you want real information, tell people to call your true union leadership not those who hide behind internet message boards like cowards in the dark.
Thanks,
Paul XXXXXXX

I'd almost forgotten about that blast. And they wonder why some of us don't feel warm and fuzzy about them!
People who participate on web boards are not exactly "half-wit, pariahs". When official information is either missing or questionable, some people seek correct information from other sources. That's all. No intent to destroy Spirit ALPA exists, now nor then.
Which brings me to another point. A significant number of us feel that the direction our (SPA) ALPA has taken is not in its' or our best interest. The argument is not about union vs non-union, it's about a sustainable career. I don't believe that any one of the 800+ pilot members of SPA ALPA are anti organized pilots.
When they, the SPA ALPA leadership, label anyone who disagrees with then as "actively seeking to undermine and destroy this pilot group", they are not only wrong - they are playing politics.
For what it's worth, the information being passed on the Spirit board at that time turned out to be true if I remember correctly. Additionally, that information was all over crew rooms and jetways - having come originally from an ACY union rep - before it showed up in print.
Interested pilots, concerned pilots, we seek information. Web forums provide a valuable source of information. Unless you're one of those who says "I don't read boards, by buddy told me what he read on APC", you are reading this on a web board. Are you the random reader a "half wit", or a "pariah"? Are you actively "attempting to undermine and destroy your pilot group"?
I thought not.

Yep, you're right. You did PM me your name. Sorry for forgetting. Believe it or not, I don't go around worrying about who is who on anonymous boards, so I forget who is who.
Not that it matters, the rest of the 41277 members of APC can know that I am a past MEC Chairman of Spirit ALPA if they just read a little, but they have no idea who you are.
BTW, who are you over on the spirit pilot board? You obviously frequent the place; do you make the same claims there about the dishonesty you see?
Again, sorry for claiming you were anonymous. You're anonymous to the other 41275, but I do now see who you are. I'll buy you a beer next time we meet.
edit: regarding my participation on the Spirit board. I defend my position, and that of what I and the MEC I worked for accomplished. I've tried to limit myself to that, If in the past I was too partisan, I apologize.

A bit too harsh from Paul to write that, with some of the expressions he used, but I understand their frustration.
ALPA does not want a pilot web board. It is a liability in their eyes. In the 21st century, not having a board is insane. Other airlines have message boards. Eventually we will have one I am sure. Until then, they will have to live with anonymous boards.

Yes, I am post strike but I ask questions and do my homework. Pretty crazy letter dont you think?

Hey Lemonade, I thought you were post strike. That seems to be a pre strike letter.

No, they don't want an open exchange of information. They need to control the info. Anyone that worked in the strike center got to see the nasty underbelly of ALPA national.

I still don't see a policy regarding an MEC/LEC member or anyone else posting on a board. That was an e-mail sent by the Strike Committee Chairman circa 2010. I would like to see something on the ALPA Consititution or official document. And yes, it is the same very anti-socialist, anti-"workers of the world unite/dictatorship of the proletariat" guy.
