The iPads were approved by upper management. You heard it here first. Target date though will be early next year under the new budget. It will give time also to IT and flight ops to implement it in our daily operation. And yes, it will be Jeppesen only. No NOS.

We have a new crew hotel in IAH. Yelp review was not good but others seem ok.

This post coming to you from the IAH Holiday Inn.......seems like a nice place. Rooms are decent, no fridge or microwave though, pool is nice, restaurant attached to hotel, gym is very nice with a combination of dumbbells, treadmill/ ellipticals, and weight machines.

I like it, so far. Will have to venture out today and see what else is around..........

This post coming to you from someone who's already stayed there:

There's not much around the hotel other than interstates, other hotels, and office buildings.

Maybe I missed a great hole-in-the-wall close by . . . I hope. The restaurant at the hotel isn't bad though.

Yep, following my previous post, the exploratory search of the surrounding area was....less than inspiring. The hotel is nice enough....but there isn't crap to do other than be at the hotel. So.....eh, not sure how much was gained, overall, from our move.

Exactly. The old IAH hotel had stuff around it, you just didn't want to visit it all alone at night. Now, you cannot leave the hotel, even as a group in the middle of the day, because there's nothing to leave for.

This wasn't an even trade. I'm chalking it up as a loss, and further proof that, no matter what hotel we have, the move to a new one is worse. The only gains I've seen is adding a long layover to a station we didn't have one at before, like PHL. Is the new long layover in DTW any better than the old one?

Apparently there are no hotels in IAH currently undergoing extensive renovations. Once there is, we will be in the construction zone. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can!
