MIRAMAR, Fla. (January 29, 2014) - Spirit Airlines (NASDAQ: SAVE) announced new nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD). This new service will consist of one daily nonstop flight starting May 1, 2014.

"We are pleased to add the only nonstop service from Chicago/O'Hare International Airport to the San Francisco Bay Area's most convenient airport" said Mark Kopczak, Spirit's Vice President of Network Planning. "Oakland International Airport is well known by Bay Area travelers for its ease of use and reliability. We look forward to adding Oakland as Spirit's 16th nonstop market served from Chicago/O'Hare."

"We're delighted that Spirit continues to grow its Bay Area base with new service to one of our largest un-served destination airports and to the popular Chicago market," said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Deborah Ale Flint. "This new daily flight will not only introduce a convenient new option for Bay Area travelers, but it will also open opportunities for more leisure travel to our region by providing easy and affordable access to the Bay Area's most popular attractions."

"On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, I want to thank Spirit Airlines for continuing to add service from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, the best connected airport in the world," said Rosemarie S. Andolino, Commissioner, Chicago Department of Aviation. "Oakland is the largest U.S. market not already served from O'Hare. We are very excited to offer O'Hare travelers even more choices with this new destination."

MIRAMAR, Fla. (January 29, 2014) - Spirit Airlines (NASDAQ: SAVE) announced new nonstop service from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and the Thurgood Marshall Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI). This new service will consist of one daily nonstop flight in each market operating from May 1, 2014 through November 1, 2014.

"We're pleased to announce new nonstop seasonal service to Minneapolis-St. Paul from both Houston and Baltimore," said Mark Kopczak, Spirit's Vice President of Network Planning. "Spirit offers ultra-low fares plus optional services for a total price that is tough to beat. This means visitors are left with more in their wallet to explore the various attractions Minneapolis-St. Paul, Houston and Baltimore have to offer."

"I am pleased Spirit Airlines continues to explore new markets from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, providing a new, low-fare alternative for travelers," said Jeff Hamiel, executive director and CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission. "This new service to Baltimore/Washington and Houston not only gives people in the Twin Cities a chance to explore popular destinations on the nation's eastern and southern coasts, but also for residents of those regions to come and see what Minnesota has to offer."

"Spirit Airlines continues to find new and exciting opportunities within the Houston market," says Ian Wadsworth, Chief Commercial Officer with the Houston Airport System. "Since their arrival in 2012, Spirit has repeatedly stepped forward in creating new nonstop service options for their Houston customers and we're excited to see that trend continuing into 2014."

"Continued growth from Spirit is good news for travelers from throughout the region," said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall. "Spirit is adding more options and more low fares for our customers."

Don't feel too bad for them. They were not able to trade during open time, which usually doesn't amount to much, but they are going to be flying their whole month at 150% credit.

Most of the talk I've heard about the growth for this year has centered on frequency, not new markets. But, I guess anything is possible, I'd love to see service to Seattle.

We need more frequency. Hopefully more planes coming in and out of places will result in less 25 hours overnights everywhere we go!

I agree, HOWEVER, I'll be really honest here and hopefully don't come across as a bad husband and father.

After 4-5 days at home with the family in 10F weather with massive snow events almost weekly, I welcome the long FLL. Layovers, lol
