It can be any where from 4 months from start of class to 9 months. It all depends on what base has the most FOs upgrading to CA.

Don't the rules of the forum also forbid people from hurling insults or are the mods an exception to that rule now? Interesting how some posters get reprimanded and punished for the most benign and trivial things but yet a mod is allowed to call someone an idiot (see reason for editing in the previous post "Quoting an idiot").

Moderating requires a lot of judgement calls and you are correct in that a lot of behavior gets through that should not. We simply do not have the time to delete/edit every single violation and we look for the most egregious violations and we also look at context.

Yeah, I understand that and can appreciate the fact, however in this case it's a moderator calling someone an "idiot". (See bottom of post #3259). Really?! Since when is that okay? Do as I say, not as I do.

I get that you and Embraerpilot probably work for crummy outfits and are treated like garbage. I understand that you want to get to a 121 outfit and fly the big jets, but you need to understand some things:

Flying an A320 doesn't make you any more marketable than a 23 year old flying an RJ.
Jyri/Bendo will come into your class and tell you that we're getting a big raise - this was the case when I came here 3 years ago. I'm still waiting......

The union is not the enemy, so forget about whatever you're told by management.

Based on current orders, you will NOT upgrade here.
Morale is very bad and within 6 months, your attitude will be just as bad.
Training is a mine field, especially for guys with no 121 experience. You need to be running before you hit the ground!
We have crummy non rev benefits and very little incentive for management to improve that situation (unless you like to fly on Air Malta....)
Just remember that you were forewarned.

This is a spot on post and what I said 5 pages back and I got blasted by a few. Its good to see a current Spirit pilot understands this. I left a ULCC to go to a real airline bc I knew what Spirit was and never tried to make it something it wasnt. When I was hired at brand x ULCC I knew the pay just as Spirit pilots do. I hoped for increases but I also wasnt smoking some good stuff and saying we will get a UAL or DL contract with all the hard and soft pay, work rules and benefits. I find it umbelivable that one goes to Spirit and then acts appauled at the pay when they knew it going in. Once again I do belive Spirit will get a contract but it will be on par with Alegiant. If you want a good contract then stop complaining and go to an airline that has one. I know many that left RJ Capt. jobs to go to Spirit with the thought that it would get them hired at a legacy and I warned against this and now it has backfired on them because they werent able to jump others in the hiring line with that all coveted Airbus type. As JustMeAgain stated if you are an RJ guy who is a Capt or almost a Capt. stay put and get your time and wait for a real airline to call dont go to a place like Spirit or Frontier!!!!

Allegiants contract would never even make it to a vote, in fact the NC published Spirit's offer 18 months ago that looked slightly better than what Allegiant eventually signed. If you have no dog in this fight, then go away. If you do work at another airline, help us bring up the basement and better this industry. Pilots are running short, and airlines that cannot attract quality pilots with fail. I do not want Spirit to be one of them.
