Spirit of NKS, Part II
Can someone explain to me how delaying the process of flattening the slope on the pay scale is beneficial for the pilot group? It seems to me, the company proposal is trying to keep the majority of the pilots (year 2-8) in a zone where they make substantially less than their peers. This seems to be a win for the company as it keeps a majority of the pilots in a sliding window of further below industry average rates throughout the duration of a contract term. If we delay fixing this until the next contract 2020 or later, will we not be in the same position we are in now? Unless a majority of year 3-6 guys leave.
Edit: Sorry. Didn't realize guys were already talking about this as I was slow to type and think!

It benefits the old school guys who b scaled the current pay rates because they can get a deal quicker if we are cheaper ie the company will more easily sign it off.
They will put it in front of us then hammer on the steep time cost of money by staying in negotiations.
New blood. It's the only solution. We are the majority now. We can get this done! As long as this is going to take years anyway now let's get new negotiators.
There are some really sharp experienced guys in the 2-6 year seniority bracket. We would be in good hands

What's with the "can't disclose details" stuff? That's total bunk. They're hiding behind this. Same as politicians and the like. If it might shine a bad light on them they "can't discuss details" but if it makes them look good then they can talk till the cows come home.
What was our offer? Can't discuss! Why did you tell us we were close? Can't discuss! What value did you put on transition? Can't discuss!
There are ways to be transparent without giving up state secrets guys.

They disclosed this stuff months ago but now can't? Bs. Out with them

Everyone says they are a NO VOTE for anything less than parity at DOS, so wouldn't pay parity ipso facto solve the slope issue?

mid 2017 at the earliest. Southwest waited 3 years and I suspect we will too. Retro Pay just moved to the absolute top for me. If they wanna drag this out 2 years an save hundreds of millions on our backs, anything short of full retro pay to 08/01/2015 is an instant NO vote.
Haven't had an opinion of our MEC either way really. However, we are all shocked the company never held anyone accountable for the meltdown, we should hold our leadership to the same standard. I was willing to give our MEC the benefit of the doubt, but at this point is clear the meltdown was a complete giveaway.. Time for a new person at the helm

Kudos to the last guy on the call to ask the payscale slope question in its proper framing by calling it essentially a B scale.
I am not at all satisfied with the NC response. While I agree it will be expensive and difficult to fix right now, they created this God forsaken slope in C2010 and now, we want it fixed.
I don't give a shizz about the fact that fixing it would seem unfair to the senior guy as it would mean the jr guy gets 50 bucks and he only get 25.
What is fair about the jr guy trailing industry payrates by like 50 dollars and the senior guy being right at IA? that is extremely unfair. the fact that he even brought up this sort of rationale makes me think he doesn't get it and we need new blood in the NC.
The first thing these clowns need to acknowledge is that there is a unfair slope to the payscale. until they acknowledge that fully, they will not be too concerned about fixing it.

They are negotiating for their pals. Let's just say this type of scale would not require a sales job for the top guys as its merits would be obvious.
As for the rest of us they probably show up at road shows with some sort of calculus equation that shows that it's a good thing.
Let's just go at this with common fornicating sense.
Parity for one, parity for all
Otherwise stop this unity talk

12 year CA pay can be $500/hr for all I care, If Junior rates are not brought up to fix the "slope" the TA will NEVER PASS
