Ummm....
How long did DALPA negotiate before the pilots had a TA to vote NO on?? How about FedEx? SWA?
A little patience goes a long way...

I'll try to take these one at a time.
1. I went to FedEx with a 5 year deal in place.
2. I have seen the financial types play there games at ATA, World and North American. Ben and Ben showed their colors this summer.
3. As I said earlier, I am hired and quit yesterday.
4. No, the pay was what I saw coming in. But, twice in person, Jyri told me the pay would improve soon. It did not. This summers issues and the companies nonresponse made the future clear to me.
Spirit can be a good place to be. It may be SWA in 1980. I just don't have 5 years to wait on a contract.

What time will we get the email today asking that if says "if you decide that you do not wish or for political or consumerism reasons do not want to celebrate New Years Eve, would you find it possible in your kind and generous heart this changing of the calendar to come in and work? There are several open trips as of lunchtime on the 31st. Our staffing is actually fatter than it needs to be, but there are some clouds in the Northeast and unseasonably cold temperatures in the West that have caused some operational issues. All trips will have no added accoutrements."

Secondly, like you said, you knew the pay rates coming in. Nobody promised or even hinted to you this was going to be the next SWA, cause it ain't. Everyone was very clear that Spirit is going in the direction of Ryanair (which as worse work rules and compensation) and during your interview someone probably asked you in one variation or another, "What do you know about the ULCC model / Do you believe in the ULCC model?"
