You could easily see a mid seniority captain in MSP move to nearly any one of our bases and be top 10-20% in captain seniority. At that point you work 9 days a month, 530-1430 day trips, home before the kids, and pocket $400k/year without breaking a sweat.

just my two cents. But as a G4 pilot I am very worried about MSP captains looking at the seniority list and realizing how good they could have it in any of our warm weather bases.
have you or anyone else ever looked into mergers? The acquiring company pilot seniority list has always been the one who benefits the most.

Yeah, that’s not true. It all depends on the arbitration. Both sides will put forth their dream sheets and the arbitrator will decide based on a host of criteria. Acquiring carrier status means very little. Even the vaunted “career expectations” takes a backseat to class and status. You are in a very similar class and status merger, I would expect to see a straight ratio for the merge.

It would be better if both sides were ALPA since ALPA merger policy lays out straightforward guidelines for the merger. Having two different unions, one with a questionable track record, will open the possibilities a lot further to see some wild proposals from either side. But the arbitrator will be experienced and will end up discarding the more extreme positions.

Remember, a merger is successful when both sides are ****ed off. 😉

Yeah that might be true if the other carrier was in bankruptcy but not when two equals merge. The career expectations of SY are arguably higher than G4 given your pay rates and retirement are out of our league.
