Sun Country

I apologize. Maybe I misunderstood your post.
All I am saying is that I have flown with many like you who have these frustrations with the current contract, company changes etc. This is not SouthWest or Delta, and the contract will never come close to matching one of them. I understand being here for that long you expect better ( And I fully respect that) but for new guys coming in from regionals or straight out of Instructing, I would say its a pretty decent opportunity.
Yes you will have to live in MSP , commuting is out of the question. If company decides to open more bases great. I surely hope however, that they do not force current employees out of MSP (Involuntary displacement). I know I would be one of the first along with many others ,that would resign the day that is announced.
Once again I apologize, im just saying, the pilot culture needs to change. The company is not in a position to struggle with growth or hiring issues right now. If anything it will only tip it further back into a state of downturn. I can only imagine what Appolo is going to do with this place come another recession and they look into their portfolio and see struggling Sun Country.

After being at SCA 20+ years I’m sure he is tired of being responsible for saving or growing the company on the back of his paycheck.
The only finger pointing should be at Jude. He is the one that should be answering the questions. He is the one who sold this plan to Apollo... if he thought that buying an airline with a cheap contract in this market and growing it to 70 planes was gonna be easy. he has made several mistakes along the way. Pilots are not gonna fall for the propaganda that him and his other management types are spewing.
Back to the topic. The original post was very accurate as to what to expect from a 20+ year prospective. Thanks for adding more insight and truth to the discussion.

Funny, it seems as though you just registered too and feel a need to contribute. This is exactly why I don't post. Attacked for basically stating facts with a few opinions thrown in so guys can get a 20+ year perspective. I never said anything was hard about my earning 186k or my comfy schedule. By the way, my schedules have deteriorated over the last 7 years, so not so comfy. As far as pay, I was simply giving an example how to calculate what your earnings might be here at SCA. I never stated my earnings were good, bad or indifferent. And as far as comparing to Delta, Southwest and the like as you did in another post, I never said anything about other airlines, but since you bring it up, I don't believe we should be at that level, but we should be a lot closer than we are currently. Let's compete with a Frontier or Spirit contract. Word on the street is Frontier is about to sign a TA and if the numbers are correct, it would be nice to be around their new TA. We can afford it. Frontier is run by a hedge fund worth 7 billion. We are run by a hedge fund worth 240 billion, so yes, we can afford it and we should be on par with Frontier or Spirit.
I accept your apology and I agree with you that the pilot culture here at SCA needs to change. Pilots need to know their worth and do the things needed to get it. The culture here for far too long has been, we need to help millionaires. And now we want to help Billionaires? No, that culture needs to change!!!
Have a good Sunday. SKOL Vikings.

Exactly. I made the change to sunny just over a year ago from a regional. In my opinion it still beats flying for any regional reguardless of what the senior folk are telling you.

The per diem is not paid doing “turns”, only multi day trips. They fail to mention after first year the min pay is 70 hours. Most of the year lines are only built to 70 hours.
Flying around the world will shortly stop as with the transition to high density seating and no ovens on the planes the military will not do global missions on this plane. The company is not going to spend the money outfitting them with the necessary equipment to fly the Nat tracks past 2020.
The health benefits are good. The travel benefits suck.. it cost more to buy a friend a buddy pass most of the time then just buying a ticket off the sun country website. It’s better than a regional airline but doesn’t hold a candle to the big 6, JetBlue or spirit and soon to be frontier.
