Plans to hire 6 pilots for August. I can't think of too many reasons you'd want to come to Sun Country anymore. Lowest paid 737 pilots in the industry and the QOL has taken a huge hit. Top 20% get day trips. 64% of pilots have 10-12 days off. Lots of 6 day trips, no weekends off unless you're top 20%. 34-hour layovers in MDW with no true min day. The appeal used to be for the Minnesota guys that wanted to be home a lot and didn't mind the hit in pay. Sun Country is evolving to a different type of airline and does not have a contract (5+ years) to ensure QOL for its pilots.

With the 2 additional planes planned for the winter the company will need to hire about 20 or so pilots by the start of the busy season which basically starts in December. The attrition will begin to pick up as the contract negotiations drag on and hiring at legacy carriers continues. I'm not sure if these two additional planes are leased planes for the winter or they will remain permanent on the roster. MNspeak is right. The QOL if you cannot hold the day trips is garbage! Now they are sliding in red eyes in inefficient 3,4,5, and 6 day trips. The Lure of being home and making a little less money is gone. You might as well be at a carrier that pays well if you are doing multiday trips all over the world... During the busy winter season the top 40-50% hold decent schedules. Reserve is not bad if you live close by and dont mind the uncertainty of being called, but the minimum pay of 70 hours and 10-11 days off is horrible.

Those numbers are painfully accurate and the company understands that.

This is going to cause a lot of sick calls and attrition if this keeps up. Its actually about 70%. QOL is not what it used to be here. Spanjers is not here to make it a good place to work.

The bottom 91 of the 118 FO lines have 11 off for reserve or 12-13 days off with Horribly inneficient trips for line holders. Only 27 day turn lines. With the lack of a decent min day pay or a good trip rig you will be sitting in JFK, MDW or BOS for 3 days and credit less than 10 hours. 5 day trips worth 24 hours are not gonna keep people here for long

Is that the point? To obtain more resignations? With as little as FOs already make, it seems like attrition would be a net loss.

I think they would like to grow but with new hires. They want to add planes. They want to get rid of the top heavy captain side and they want to see FO's leave before they get to the top of the pay scale. Keep the crew costs ultra low

Sun Country has become a Regional Airline... Except bigger airplanes. If you think by coming here that you are escaping the things you hate about Regional life, thing again.. If your an FO at A Regional and see this as an opportunity, think again. Your life will suck here and there won't be any chance of upgrade anytime soon, along with a training contract, ridiculously low pay, run by people that have zero ethics and continuously prove their incompetence on a daily basis... When Congress (the most unethical criminals in America) writes a letter to your COO stating how unethical his actions are, run and run fast... Wait it out where you are. To those that won't believe these posts, good luck in your career, your going to need it.... You have been warned.

Are you guys just hiring for an August class or are they planning to run a class in September also?

How would new hires be received online? Is it better to help the cause by not applying under current contract to show management they need to quit milking the current bankruptcy contract and increase pay/QOL?
