Lol. I don't wish anything bad to happen at TSA. I have a lot of friends there. And I didn't want to leave. I did so because of "the writing on the wall." Wishing for something bad to happen versus saying what I think will or won't happen are two different things. I hope UAL and TSA do up the ante. It would be good for everyone there and all regionals in general. But my opinion is that this won't happen...
UAL has been forced to do something... they bought 49% of CommutAir and ordered 65 737-700's while publicaly stating they will be drastically cutting their regional carriers with a focus on slashing the number of 50 seaters in operation and focusing on bringing flying back in house between now and 2020. So my opinion is that I do not think UAL is going to pay a contract carrier to throw large bonuses at new hires to boost staffing numbers. And I don't think they will buy any regionals.... Maybe CommutAir since they already own 49%. But I doubt it. These are opinions, not ill wishes for tsa or any other regional.
I do fully agree with you there it looks like there will be some major consolidation between several regional carriers moving forward. That has to happen for companies to survive.

Commutair is struggling to staff as well, and is parking Dash 8s to staff the ERJ. The plan you are referring to was developed before Kirby got there, and UAL just announced they are converting the 737-700s to larger aircraft. We will see what Kirby does, but keep in mind he was the President at American when the program with the wholly owneds was put together there.

There were several articles about this in mid November... then I believe the next day is when we got the memo about united performance and cancellation goal. It makes me worder if we are in the running for these.... if we don't miss our cancellation goal. It might be make or break with United right now.

And Kirby was very much against that plan to my understanding. That is one of the big reasons he left. Him, Parker, and Isom did not share the same vision moving forward. I wouldn't take Kirby being at UA as any indication that UA will take the same path as American. They are apples and oranges.

Kirby is at UAL because he wants the top job and knows it will be a long time before Parker retires. Munoz won't be the CEO long and he has no airline background so Kirby will have a free hand. If he turns UAL around he will be the CEO when Munoz retires. Kirby tried to make a play to move up at AA and ticked some people off so Parker forced him out. That is why he is leaving. He was Parker's right hand man when they put the WOs together and his main area of responsibility was regional lift. If he and Parker disagreed over that or anything else he would have been gone long ago. This is all about too many bulls in the pasture.
