Not currently in the business (RTP) so my verbiage might be off. Just trying to get a gauge on how much time off folks have if they haven't been picking up extra trips. I am aware that the min contractually guaranteed days off is 11.

Glad to hear that there have been baby steps made in improving the training program. When I did the training, they gave us 4 GFS sessions, and none of it was about learning flow and callouts. It was about showing us what the buttons do and essentially oral prep, that’s it. If the GFS is now about learning the flows and call outs, I applaud that with a healthy dose of ‘It’s about @#$&ing time!” There were classes ahead of me and behind me that experienced 50% washout rates, and it wasn’t because they were boozers or excessive partiers.

TSA’s training is fine if you come to the table with prior 121 or turbine time. But beyond indoc and systems, it was a dumpster fire if you didn’t have prior experience.

Just curious- I believe most, if not all, other UAX carriers have a CPP, but it seems TSA doesn’t? Anyone have a reason for that? Not trying to be a jerk- just curious.

Why do you say it’s going down hill fast?

Not really. Nobody knows for sure, but TSA was supposed to take all 64XRs from UAL. TSA agreed to the first 32, then decided to take on 12 LRs for AA and slowed down the XR program, ultimately not taking the next batch of 32 airplanes. Those planes endued up at Commutair which has been a dumpster fire so far. Supposedly this ticked UAL off, which is why they have refused to give us any hiring help. Many times FO said UALs refusal was due to not being willing to help staff American, but that excuse fell flat when Mesa got it. So something happened, likely due to TSA giving UAL the shaft over the XRs, but now that we are an all UAX carrier and struggling to hire it is being discussed again. We'll see what happens now that FO is gone.

I was at TSA and then went to C5. CommutAir is hardly a dumpster fire. Enjoying it so far with a good pilot group, new planes and new routes. I believe the dumpster fire you refer to is on Navaid Rd STL. Glad I’m at C5.

I upgraded a year ago, so still junior on the captain side, and I had 16 days off this month including Thanksgiving, and no extra flying. Since being a lineholder, I'm usually awarded 14-16, and the months I've picked up flying or got juniored, I ended up with losing usually 2 assigned days off... one month was 3 days. This month was the first in a while that I have not had extra flying, but all of those months I credited over 100 hours, so $$ was OK. I hope this helps. The staffing situation seems better, but Christmas week is going to be a $h!tshow from the amount of stuff in open time, and the summer months were rough to say the least.

Seems mostly true. Management definitely seems to have ****ed off UAL with their American experiment.

It's a shame that they didn't focus on the long term stuff from United, and grow Denver 2-3 years ago as originally planned. We lost a lot of people over the debacle of the Denver base taking FOREVER to grow.

I'm hoping that the CPP is back on the table with the change in leadership. Every excuse from FO for not getting the CPP was debunked as other carriers got it. As of 24 dec, we will be the only UAX-only carrier without it... I hope that changes.

Also, from everything I've heard, if we can manage to staff additional flying, United will give us more. (I'm sure that is true for any of their 50 seat carriers).

Congratulations. One dumpster fire to another.
