I keep hearing it repeated, but have yet to see one. Perhaps I should get out more? 
I also don't understand why it rankles some guys so much. Both legacy wings look better than the stuff issued post merger, and much better than heavily festooned cowboy boots or black reeboks.

As a post-merger guy I've seen the legacy wings several times and honestly it comes across to me as a little immature. The old companies are gone and the new one is the one paying your bills, 401K and profit sharing and shaping your new future for better or worse. Just move on. The least the old wings are going to do is rankle some feathers if you have an FA group from the other legacy, and it's setting an adversarial tone right from the gun if your FO (or CA) came from the other side.
If you want to have your 15 pieces of legacy flair, keep them on your rollaboard
