I know you post on a lot of forums, and you and I have actually met, we have a lot of mutual friends. Respect the chit out of you brother, you're a good dude... but in this case you're 100% wrong. SCABS should NEVER be tolerated, or forgiven. When you're willing to hang it all out on the line, and some d-bag takes that as an opportunity to better themselves.... there is something truely flawed with that person. There is a reason they couldn't get hired and needed to cross a picket line. I've flown with SCABS, to a man everyone of them had a major character flaw or personality defect. I lived it as a kid, watching my dad take a night manager job at a gas station (Vietnam vet, Navy pilot) to keep my brother and I clothed and fed, refusing to sell his soul or his brothers and sisters out, keeping the picket line intact. Move on? NEVER.

Let me put it in terms a military guy can understand... a SCAB is that guy who weasels out of deployment. Then, as you cross the horizon, off to do Gods work, willing to die for your kids future and county, leaving your family and kids behind, he's trying to bang your wife.

NEVER forgive, ever.

Spoken like a SCAB. Opportunity or not, if you don't know, with absolute 100% certainty which side of the line you'd be on... you've got a major problem.

Check fire, Grumble. I'll clarify my post.

I'm referring to Dave diverting the conversation into yet another discussion on scabs. Kind of like going to the bar with the guys, and one guy brings up his divorce every time... even years later. Yes, we all still hate her. But do we have to talk about her again? Save the scab discussion on threads that deal with the issue.

The way I read it, Flatspin's post was simply that L-UA and L-CO crews went out and they were able to avoid the "us and them" mentality. Dave decided to use this to jump into the strike/scab issue.

I'm not advocating support of anyone that crosses the picket line. I'm asking that he stop dredging up the subject needlessly.

I hope that clarifies it.

I think he's referring to those that still wear leagcy wings and talk about how great their former airline was prior to the merger. That's my interpretation of his comments.

OMG this again?!!! Well Dave, are you referring to ALPA crossing a legally struck airline picket line to take the jobs of the Flight Engineers? Never mind, save me your equivocation about how ALPA said it was okay when they colluded with management. More ancient history,

If wasn't ALPA National that made the CAL SCABS whole. It was the CAL pilots that made that decision. For the record ALPA National does not have a master scab list. There may be a non-member list but not sure.

But getting back to CAL pilots making their scabs whole - they did it to make sure of the votes to get CAL certification for represention by ALPA but it was not an ALPA requirement as they accepted the list as presented by CAL.

Note: United ALPA made no such concession for the United scabs even after the merger.

That sounds a bit suspect that National played no role in knocking the wall down for the scabs. But whatever makes you feel superior. I mean I can't really believe you have great comprehension if you had trouble figuring out why you would use "custom routing"........

He is mostly correct but not entirely. When the IACP was formed the scabs were allowed in, the thinking was if they were excluded any vote to unionize would fail due to the demographics at the time. When the IACP merged with ALPA the scabs came in the deal, trying to exclude them would have been a labor law violation. ALPA National was a big proponent of the IACP-ALPA merger.

You don't need to believe it but that's the way it happened for the CAL SCABS. You want to test it out - call the ALPA National President and ask him to make the United SCABS whole. You'll be surprised at his answer. Report back to the APC faithful when you find out.

As far as the 'custom routing' non-rev function in skynet - tell me why you'd use it. Maybe you could teach everybody something.
