I took it late August. Answered honestly, consistently and conservatively...got the thumbs down unfortunately. Was absolutely devastated. Best of luck to you!

Go through quickly, answer with your gut, move to the next one and never think about the question again.

You can always hire a consultant that specializes in coaching you up before taking the test. They won’t give you right or wrong answers per se, but it can help get you in the right mindset and understand what the test is really seeking before taking it. Check out Corporate and Career Takeoff, I think RST does it or used to as well, and I’m sure there are others.

Not sure if I really needed to spend the money or needed the help, but I’d rather have that feeling than failing and feeling like I could have done more to be successful.

I say do whatever you can so you don’t feel like you left anything on the table.

Take a practice here if you feel inclined. I found these questions mirrior the Hogan pretty close;

Thanks much ! This is very helpful. For those who were successful on the Hogan did you guys chose mostly the extreme answers ( Strongly agree/Strongly disagree) or was it a combination of everything?

Thanks again.

Carter1 10-13-2019 11:55 AM

Generally a lot of extremes are not great ideas in any personality tests- including the MMPI if you ever interview at delta as well. Staying more in the middle with agree or disagree is a better idea unless there you truly strongly agree or disagree.

Just be honest and answer with gut feeling. The test is looking for consistency so don’t answer how you think they want you to. Answer for you. That said, a lot of personality tests will suggest that lots of strongly agree or disagree answers indicates an opinionated person who may not be open to hearing criticism.

RST prep for Hogan! Hogan invite Wed, prepped Thursday, test Friday, Invite Sat, Scheduled 22 Oct! Seriously the prep was awesome well worth money.

Carter1 10-14-2019 02:56 AM

Should I have asked them to go slower between each step in order to meet the speed requirements of ERAUAV8TR?

Haha I broke all those rules, I went slow, then went over it again, changed a bunch of answers, and passed. Who knows what would have happened if I had not. Just do what what makes you feel most comfortable.

Ditto 🤣

The thing to remember is UAL is stressing now to BE YOURSELF. Not what a prep company says you should be. I had 3 friends who went through the process last year and not one of them used a prep company. Crazy? Maybe but UAL must have seen they were being themselves.

September Job Fair

Hey Guys ,

Did the Hogan and I got an invitation for an interview next week. My schedule is all backed up with flying. Has anyone had any luck with rescheduling an interview?

Thanks.

Hank Burley 10-14-2019 01:42 PM

Sounds to me like you’re coming down with an illness?

How long does it take to hear back after you take the Hogan?
Do they email you and just assign you an interview date or they give you few options?

Thanks. That is super fast. Appreciate the response. By the way once you submit the Hogan and Being United, do you get any confirmation emails that it was submitted?

No, only a thank you email for registering the becoming united part.

Congrats, that’s incredibly fast. In April I got the interview within an hour after Hogan (no BU way back then...), the online scheduler had earliest interviews about a month out. Curious to see how fast guys getting CJOs now are getting put into a class.

Within an hour! Wow! Seems like it is an automated process then! That's cool.

Been 24 hours. Crickets!!!!

My daughter took the Hogan yesterday, heard back in two hours, and has an interview next week. Talk about fast.

If you failed the hogan would they tell you?

Firefly899 10-15-2019 09:16 AM

You got a TBNT for the whole process a few days after. Thats what I have been told.

Skip0927 10-15-2019 10:30 AM

As a guy who is a current UAL pilot and was unsuccessful with Hogan back in 2016 and then successful in 2018, i waited 4 days for an answer both times. Dont read into the time delay. Until you get a TBNT, stay positive!

For people waiting to hear back.

I took the Hogan on Sunday afternoon. Heard back finally after 3 long days. Was crossing the Atlantic, landed and saw the opposite of TBNT email in my inbox.

Guess, they are just busy and if something goes out of the way (if you get flagged etc. during the test), I believe someone has to review the test in person and then send out the invite.

Anyhow, good luck to all on the interview.

People say the hogan is the hardest part of the process. Whats people’s experience?

Easy to overthink it I suppose. I took it late August and was not so fortunate. Was devastating...

Interviews are always nervewracking, but I found the United interview to be one of the most "relaxing" (if one can call an interview relaxing) interviews I have ever had. Aside from those who checked over my paperwork, everyone interviewing me was a pilot or retired pilot. It was obvious they wanted you to succeed.

Pullchocks 10-22-2019 08:10 AM

Took BU & Hogan on a Tuesday, finally heard back following Monday with good news. If you don't hear back right away don't read into it.

FlyPurdue 10-29-2019 02:38 PM

Has there been a common DOW/Time that Becoming United / Hogan's have been sent out?
