Hey everyone,

Just booked the Doubletree on a Hotwire Hot Deal for 110 base rate. Hope this helps someone. See you all there!

Firefly899 07-15-2019 03:58 AM

Hey All,

Got the invite. Whats the recommended dress code for this. I have heard everything from slacks, jacket and no tie. All the way to full on interview attire. Im leaning business casual with jacket but curious to know what others are thinking.

How is this even a question?! Where did you hear that?
“Leaning business casual” sounds like a good plan. Go for it!

New suit/shoes etc. Have the mindset and treat it like an actual interview. If not, the casual demeanor will come through and you may not move past this selection process. I've been told there are 9000 apps on file and this job fair is the means by which ual can gauge a potential candidate for and if things go well, will move them forward in the hiring process. So bring your A game. That includes your attire. I would also recommend some job fair prep to get you in the right mindset. You get 8-10 minutes with a recruiter for an opportunity for a multi million dollar career. This is not just another job fair. You were selected out of thousands of qualified applicants. This is a chance to move to the next round. Keep that perspective at all times, and again, bring your A game.

Hi Folks,

Sorry to asking this question here, but I could not find a thread on the topic relating to the driving record section in airlineapps. I was curious what I should put for the only ticket I have even gotten, touch wood. In 2009 I got a speeding ticket. I do not remember the date exactly, but it was probably around September 2009. Anyway, I went to court, pleaded no contest, and completed the defensive driving course. Doing this apparently dismissed the ticket. Do I still need to report this in the driving history section. Like I said, I cannot remember the exact date. What do I enter for disposition?

Thanks y'all.

Just lie.
You're good at it.

Exactly why I am asking the question tool!!!! I know I am sub standard to you from your screen name, but for what its worth I heard this recommendation from a VP of Flt Ops at an event I was at where we shared a chat. HIS guidance was for events like this to be business casual but presentable and save the game on attire for the formal interview. Appreciate the great feedback!!!!

I went to the veterans event in 2016 and they specifically said business casual in the invite. I take it they didnt specify in this one

I don’t think we get a second chance ha...I actually got more competitive and had a second company look at my app before these invites went out and no luck

Same here. I had more flight time, volunteering, skeleton get cleared, several app reviews and nothing.

It’s ok, that 2.5k hour Skywest female is probably much more qualified, especially if she’s blonde.

Sounds like you have a bit of an inferiority complex.

Nope. Just a very strong desire to succeed and provide for my family the way they deserve to be. They have put up with a lot as I have worked as hard as I can to get where I want to be. Want to do my best in all areas of my career and want to know I prepped rite and did everything I could to put my best foot forward.

I asked a serious question in hopes of a serious answer, which thankfully
came. Didnt appreciate the response, was having a bad day and vented it out. Simply put.

Great idea to have such thoughts out there in the open on the very board that belongs to an airline you’re clearly targeting... is this the kind of attitude you had at the expo last year as well? Could be something to that. Seems like things worked out the way they should have.

You can find pictures of new hire classes. If they feel that they didn’t get hired because of reverse discrimination...let em.

Sounds like HR is weeding out the right ones.

You got me, it was the first thing I told HR on the way in. You must be a brunette.

Funny how the truth becomes something you should fear posting. Oh well, welcome to the new United.

More invites must have gone out today, I just got one. Probably the remaining slots that need original invites did not RSVP for.

If you can't get hired and be a part of the 93+% of white male dudes then you clearly are lacking something. If you think total hours beyond minimum matter then you are clearly missing something as well. If you don't get it, don't let the door hit you on the way out. We don't need that attitude here. I was amazed with the quality of new hires in my class, and have heard over and over from LCA's and Captains on the line that by and large the vast majority of new hires are quality hires. If your not one of them than you need to look in the mirror and figure out why, because the answer isn't discrimination against the white dude. News flash were all still basically white dudes so no issue there getting hired as a white dude, young old or otherwise.

Thanks for the lecture. Get your head out of the sand. That 25 yr old blonde is interviewing first...Even amongst a vast sea of swinging weenahs. So the "but there's more white males" logic is moot.

Do they send additional info about the career/job fair. On the email it mentioned they would after 29th July. Didn't receive anything yet, or is it too early?

Still too early, you’ll start receiving several emails in the weeks to come.
