Just of curiosity...has anyone that attended the CIVILIAN event received either the "be patient" or Hogan invite email? If so, what letter does your last name starts with?

I attended the civilian event (morning) and have only received the "thank you for attending/survey" email thus far....

14bis 11-01-2018 06:55 AM

Has any civilian pilot received the Hogan link and invitation for interview yet? From what I am gathering, they have only contacted military pilots.

It has been a long and silent wait...

All civ, no mil and i have an early NOV interview. By my estimation I was in that second wave of emails.

Squallrider 11-01-2018 08:25 AM

Nothing here and it’s November , would be nice to at least get the patient email because it’s odd not hear absulotely anything

Invites have gone out to military and civilian attendees. Invites will continue to go out through January.

Any CJO sent out to September fair attendees? Any idea how long from interview to class date? Good luck everyone!

4-6 weeks. They were running 1 class per month and just ramped up to 2 classes for Nov/Dec. Only 1 scheduled for Jan/Feb at this time.

CJOs over the last few weeks to include THIS WEEK have been filling the 27 Nov class.

DenTK is set up to interview a max of 16/day and right now running 12/day. I don't think they interview more than 3 days per week.

One of my clients just received a CJO yesterday. They were saying 30-60 days. They called back later in the day and offered him the November 27th class.

Squallrider 11-02-2018 02:21 PM

so if we get the email end of January probably won’t be in class till April or so. Surely soon they’ll have to refocus their efforts on the family job fair applicants ? Running out of hope.

The end of Jan, man. We have almost 3 months left and they’ve barely been sending them out for 1. Don’t stress just yet

How big is this family job fair? Aren’t they inviting a lot of lower time/inexperienced folks to that event? I have a tough time believing they’d refocus their efforts on just the family attendees.

Yes, apps were due in September and they were sent out at the end of September and RSVP to said invites were due by the end of October.

TripleSpool 11-04-2018 10:16 AM

I've been diligently updating my app and checking my email. As far as I can tell, there isn't any chronological order with the invites being sent out. If indeed there is a point system, it is equally in effect for those who attended the job expo and for those that haven't; meaning that our call to interview may be that much longer given the number of recalls, flow-throughs, off the street, and job expo types. Just a thought.

pilotgolfer 11-04-2018 10:56 AM

At any point in the application or interview process...do they ask about your number of sick calls? A story was relayed to me about an applicant and I wasnt sure it was believable. Is it disqualifying if you have had more than 4 sick calls in a rolling year period or 8 in a 2 year period?

Sounds like total B.S.

.

TripleSpool 11-04-2018 12:05 PM

The only question I've heard of pertaining to sick calls is if you called in sick at your current job to make the interview date (which is easily verifiable). Aside from that, anything else is paranoia. Yes, pilots get sick too, sometimes they even have to take a medical leave of absence unexpectedly. Stuff happens. They just wanna make sure they are getting a dependable employee with a good work ethic.

Ever since having kids I don't know how the heck guys rack up 1000 hrs of sick time. I can barely keep 100hrs revolving when our kids preschool seems like the satellite branch of the CDC.

I think the majority of recent invites have been from the job fair, they didn’t do this fair for nothing they clearly placed emphasis on meeting people directly. I think it’s just about being patient...may be a point system for actual attendees in how our one on one went

Maybe they are one of those rare ones who only suffer illness on their off days;-)

That is a CPP thing. A few regionals have preferential interview programs where they fill a certain percentage of every class. Not to discourage the remaining applicants because the percentages that they are pulling from those regionals is lining up with what they were previously hiring.

They might notice if you have less flight time than usual. Most regional guys are flying 600+ hrs a year (on the low side) and if the math doesn't work you might have to explain. If you have been there 4 years they would expect 2400 hrs give or take of 121 time. They may also look at the last few holidays in your logbook. You can get sick on Christmas and they know that but they are looking at the whole picture. A guy grinding 800 hrs a year with 12-14 days off every month has nothing to worry about. I graphed my flight hrs per year in my logbook because I wanted them to notice.

Anyone from the fair who’s taken the Hogan

To anyone who’s taken the Hogan recently... is there a spectrum or range when answering questions, or is it just a simple “Agree” or “Disagree”?

Thanks in advance.

IANAL, but that sounds like it would be a potential legal problem for UAL if they were asking questions like that in an interview. I seriously doubt they would go there, because it would probably open them up to a potential lawsuit over things like HIPPA and so on. Also due to HIPPA, if they ask about your sick time usage, they certainly can't ask why you were calling in sick, so it really gives them no useful information about your dependability. It might even edge into legal issues for UAL to even ask your previous employer about your sick time usage. I'm calling BS on the story, I doubt they'd ask anything.

I know Delta asks how many times you call in sick,or used to, could have gone the way of the rocking chair. I don’t think they can ask why. When I was at UND, Delta mainline recruiters would come in To try and get everyone jazzed up about Delta but then go on a tangent about what they ask in the interview. They had stories about people calling out sick to attend the interview and then admitting it. Or it was a scare tactic to a bunch of college kids

ReadyRsv 11-06-2018 05:42 AM

Don’t call in sick for the interview or recruiting events. Bad juju. Was never asked about sick calls at work.

See below. But they wouldn't be so dumb (mostly) without going about it the proper way. They CAN do it, as long as the candidate gives the authorization, a la DAL. Don't want to give the authorization? That's fine, guess you don't want to really interview there either.

Now, just because a candidate signs the form that DAL can ask, as well as pose that question to the candidates employer there's NOTHING that says the current/former employer has to answer it.

And then it morphed into 3-4 more questions of "how many occasions have you missed work?" etc. To account for things like commute drops, fatigue calls, LOA, FMLA, etc.

Seems as if it wasn't so much about how many, simply whether or not the candidate was telling the truth SHOULD the employer decide to divulge said information.
