Torture chamber? I wish I had a little more room up there but let’s not go over the top.

When I was a new hire I inquired as to whether or not we would ever grow New York, and a then senior executive said . . . and I quote . . . "well at United the sun rises and sets in Chicago so I'm gonna say the chances we will grow New York are zero".

I never forgot those words.

Times change . . .

P.S. I live in NY

P.P.S. James, you should know I have 17 days off. My trips are all 2 legs only. I have 80 hrs, AND a layover of 25 hours in Cabo. Methinks your experience on the bus is not like mine.
This post typifies the mega narcissist profile that seems to abound in this profession. Some jackass exec says something that cast your situation as anything other than the best and now you need some kind of revenge on those that have nothing to do with it.

By the way I'll up your NB schedule with I had the entire month off thanks to landings class and a little vacation. With full pay. As a middling line holder on the 777 I pretty much get the days off I want, have had Christmas off (never happened when I was on the NB) and pretty much all trips are commutable if needed. To each their own but I wouldn't brag too much. And I probably wouldn't align my thinking too much with old German philosophy their track record is not the best.

If you are a “middling lineholder,” why do you need landings class?

You can bid a line with no landings. One of the best trips (most productive when compared to TAFB) in DC is the 3-day NRT bunky. It goes very senior.

Exactly. If I was morbidly obese or 6’6” I’d probably be in hell. But it isn’t that bad.

You obviously don't fly it. Playing the landings game gets most guys that do it either an extra month's pay a year or an extra month off (with pay) a year.

Yes, I fly the 777. I try to avoid bunky because I like being a pilot...not a pax.

I just don’t understand those that haven’t landed an actual UAL aircraft in their recent memory.

Wow . . .

Anger issues maybe?

It was meant as a funny post like chuckling when somebody bumps their head on the overhead panel. Nobody likes it when their base is shrinking, and one of the beauties of this job is that it has something for everyone.

To me this forum is for off duty entertainment. If making light of a situation gets your panties in a wad, I'm sorry.

+1

Also 10+ SCs and 0 FNF at the end of the month is pretty weak. Is flying really that scary?
