That is my personal trigger to pull all my money out of the market. It worked the last time too.

Well, some of them got bailouts.....

Rather touchy subject around here

I don't recall it as being as good as Hard Landing,

Hard for me to say as I read it roughly 20 years ago. From what I recall, the head guy (Harding Lawrence ??) was a bit of a genius and had some great ideas. Unfortunately mid level management stunk and the company was unable to fully execute the simple blocking and tackling required to move the company fast enough to deal with the withering effects deregulation was having on the industry.

You know, properly staff, cater, deal with bags, have crews able to park when you pull up to the gate....

Meanwhile Bob Crandall was doing everything in his power, legal and illegal, to attack Braniff in Dallas. Its amazing that he kept his job given his attempts at price fixing.

The airline business must be rocket science.

Slightly off topic but seriously thank you for reminding me to pick up that book! I had completely spaced on the title for the last couple of months!

Out of curiosity do you have any other good reads? I used to have a list but I’ve lost it in most of my computer moves!

Thanks, I'll check it out. I saw another book recommended here and I believe it was about the airline unions. If you recognize it do you know what book it was?

Flying the Line I believe.

It's free through the ALPA website. Both volumes.
