737-900s fly through Denver year round.

I know, but the article is about high and hot. I had the flap 5 go around explained to me in the sim as an improved climb go around. Just like the takeoff, you run like hell and throw it into the air. I thought that it was funny at the time. Not so funny remembering when you’re doing a flap 5 or normal go around at the end of a long day though.

Personally, I LOVE seeing Boeing hammered over this and I think the end result is they will be turning out some really, REALLY safe and well-engineered airplanes in the years to come.

These two accidents, while tragic, were perfectly timed to now ensure only the highest level of engineering and regulatory oversight for the 777x (which, who knows, they may end up selling us), the new MOM aircraft (which we will likely buy), and the MAX 10 (which we are buying).

They've had 102 years of experience to ensure the "highest level of engineering".

They tried to Airbus a Guppy and unfortunately didn't know how. Single source data input failure that forces a crash is worse than a rookie move.

34 at the time of grounding plus all the ones we would have taken delivery of by the time they start flying again. Hopefully they’ll get this sorted out sooner than expected.

Bahahahaha! Us get 787s?! That’s hilarious. We’re not getting $7!t until our CEO & COO leave and take their “We’re going to conquer the world using 737s” mentality with them.

I just hope we get the MOM aircraft next decade and a ton of A220-300s. We’ve got over 500 737-700s that need to get replaced and the A220-300 would be a phenomenal aircraft to replace them with.

I think some of you looking in don’t realize how firmly entrenched the “only 737s” mentality is at SWA.

Exactly. We had 9 at the time of the grounding but we have 14 today as 5 were “delivered” in the last few weeks and counting. It is wrecking our 737 pilot’s Summer schedules and I’m finding that pulling all the spares to cover the schedule means flying planes with MELs which we rarely have here at UAL. We have stated publicly that we can only get by doing this until June 4th, when we will probably have to start cancelling flights. The 757/767/777 domestic birds can only cover so much and the Airbus fleet is stretched to the max already(no pun intended).

We’ve cancelled max flights through early July now. It’s going to be a rough summer.

Looks like UA has pulled a 757 back out of the boneyard. The fleet guys must really be scrambling.
