I believe, and someone correct me if I’m wrong but if you’re in aviate , you have to withdraw from the program completely to be reconsidered ots.If you’re selected again you have to re do the entire interview process including the hogan .
In addition, once you withdraw from aviate they probably won’t select you again -who knows.

These are guys with 6,7,8 or 10 k hrs or more .

are these folks from the old CPP? There’s plenty of of CPP/AVIATE first decile folks in classes. They started getting placed in June classes.

Correct. Those getting class dates are from the old CPP.

No Aviate pilots have a class date.

Correct - It's Aviate or OTS, can't do both.

I believe that under the initial CPP program, once selected for an interview you could choose if it was an OTS or a CPP interview.

Yes, yes there is something “stopping them from trying OTS”. Let me explain.

Example 1. Aviate. Twelve year United Express guy. Spring 2019 waiting for a CPP interview. Was told the program was being redone and to wait for interview invite in new program (Aviate). Waited until Fall of 2019 when Aviate interviews started. Interviewed. Got the Yes. The program requires an additional 6 month wait to transition to United. (In addition to hour and time commitments already completed). That led right into Covid. Waited another 15 months for classes to restart. Hiring starts. CPP pilots started in June. As of now, no Aviate pilots have been invited to Class. Still waiting.

Example 2. OTS. Interview in May 2021. Start class 3 weeks later.

What you are saying is get out of the line Example 1 guy has been in since the Spring of 2019, and start over trying to get a spot in the other line? And how likely do you think it is to get an interview invite if you are an Aviate pilot who steps out of line? So, yes, there is something “stopping them from trying OTS”.

The bottom line is - some guys are trying to determine whether the Aviate program is their best option. For an experienced guy, it probably isn’t. If United is your goal airline, it’s probably best to go to a non-United regional or LCC. It is unlikely United will cannibalize from their own feed, when they can get pilots elsewhere. Just my 2 cents.

If people think they can get it without Aviate because they’re too impatient to wait for their spot to come out as the pool drains every month, then they should try OTS. Due to covid they are just now pulling out the last of the CPP people. If all the eligible Aviate people aren’t gone by the end of the year I would be absolutely shocked.

You still don’t seem to see the point .
I doubt if they will pull the qualified aviate pool by years end . Impossible when OTS guys are being put ahead of them . That’s just a rumor someone started , to keep everyone in line at their regionals .There hasn’t been any official communication from UA stating that all aviate participants who meet hours requirements, etc. will be gone by years end .To my knowledge, Ua never said that .

Honestly, it’s very difficult to compare one pool of people to the next. If you’re a really strong candidate, meaning lots of hours, leadership, LCA/CP, graduate degrees, etc. you’re probably going to fare well in either pool and going OTS will be faster. If you’re a young guy who has only flown airplanes, then Aviate is probably faster even with the wait. It’s all about the individual.
