I love how guys that don’t even work here are complaining already. Ual gets to decide who and when they bring people on board.

SMH
Whats the point of the aviate program then ? Why not just make everyone apply off the street ?
Successful participants were to be placed in a pool, and given first available class dates , once all program requirements are met AND hiring resumed, based on interview dates , first in first out . None of that is happening.
Why ? Because the regionals are starting to struggle to find qualified pilots again . So basically ual is saying “ keep flying your crappy planes with your crappy schedules. We will call you when we want , regardless of what was told to you. You’re doing a fine job at uax , keep it up , but if there is a rampers ex girlfriend, first cousins nephew out there , we will hire him ahead of you”
The AA wo’s and now Delta with endevour all have straight flow throughs . When your number is up , you go regardless.
They can meter that of course but I’m starting to think it’s a better deal .

Who's to say that they DON'T view it as a success when viewed from their perspective?

The pilots will still come...

That's happened before. All it takes is a "rah-rah" email/speech from one of our recruiters and a clever buzzword like "enhanced" or "streamlined" thrown in to give those pilots just a little bit of hope and keep the hanging on.

Well, there is/was a TON of those pilots that thought they could get an OTS even before the CPP/AVIATE happened and simply didn't. Can't tell you how many I know that conform/conformed to that. Even more interesting was, a very qualified candidate (LCA, IP, volunteer, what have you) that has a completed/reviewed app was hearing crickets. Gets their CPP and passes/into the pool. Technically, if it's as easy as you presume, they would have been emailed/interviewed OTS before their CPP and been much more senior than when they went via CPP.

The pilots will still come...

It's been that way since the beginning. Zero transparency. Worked then, should continue to work, FOR THEM.

The pilot will still come...

True, despite whatever language in written into the agreement. But mostly, the language that has all the "if's, "ands", "buts", etc that are NOT in the candidates favor.

Not like it needs to be repeated, but.....

......it's a pilot PAY PROBLEM at the regional level, NOT a pilot shortage at the legacy level.

And as I posted in another thread (or maybe here), it won't be long before the pre-COVID bonus structure returns to the regionals.

But as far as the legacies? The pilots will still come...

Yes, I understand how it works. My comment is meant for someone who is starting out contemplating which avenue to pursue. If you are going to do all of what it takes to be the average successful OTS applicant, then you are probably wasting your time considering Aviate. If you are going to have a resume that could be summarized by hours alone and want less of the chasing of goalposts, Aviate is an excellent choice. The problem is that it comes with a cost, which is what you are experiencing. Now if you did everything that the average OTS applicant has done, then you probably made the wrong choice in hindsight, but you'll still get here eventually.

I don't think it's easier getting hired OTS. Actually the opposite. If I were a young guy starting out in aviation with a goal of flying for a legacy and not joining the military, I'd certainly do Aviate unless I was naturally inclined to do all of the other things that you have to do to be competitive.

Almost 13K total time, 11K turbine, 8K PIC turbine, LCA

Delta.... Crickets
FedEx.... Crickets
UPS... Crickets
Spirit.... Crickets (while hiring tons of guys around 4K total)
Sun Country.... Crickets (while hiring tons of guys around 4K total)
Breeze.... Crickets (Only looking at people with 170/190 type)

Either my application is a train wreck (which I doubt since it's been reviewed) or there actually is a stigma against high time people.

Not necessarily complaining, just trying to give you an idea of the struggle that some of us are facing.

can you “identify” as low time?
really sad that you can’t get a call with those hours.
