Too many folks living beyond their means. I fly with a bunch of FOs that were wildly in over their heads. $1000/mo Tesla payments. $500,000 McMansions.

wow just stop now. can think of regionals that had 6+ yr FOs maxing under $40/hr but can’t recall any Tesla owners. congrats for banking money champ but many of us were paycheck to paycheck FOs and then perhaps Captains just able to do things like attempt to pay down student or flying debt or maybe afford to envision an extremely modest family and investigate what the heck a 401k was and how we could maybe now match the few percent company tossed to us in beggar fashion. If only we were all “banking”

Great question. It was the people whining about being broke with $50,000 whining bonuses.

Chuck, try to keep up. This is a United forum. The FOs with Teslas are at United. I’m sure they were just as buried in debt at the regionals living far above their means. That doesn’t mean I have to listen and commiserate with their inability to delay gratification. Unfortunately these broke jokers get a vote.

I am heartened to hear support of maintaining a strong CBA that we can grow on, at some point, rather than spend the next decade getting to where it is now.

Good luck to us all, in unity I’ll S T F U And let the union speak for me.
Rather than pick your jaw up, use it to educate them. As a furlough candidate myself I have written direct to my LEC reps and laid out, with zero ambiguity, that I will vote for no concessions and that I refuse to support anything that would lead to me spending my time after furlough trying to regain that which I had before but was given away. Every, single, one of my peers I know and have spoken to are in complete agreement.

Unbelievable...can’t even give SK a chance. Your attitude should be that if he’s got concessions in there you can’t live with, then vote it down, but to blindly just say this??? Nice.

Wrong. If there is ANY concession it’s an immediate no. The end.

Most of the regional pilots I ever met living with big homes and fancy cars had half (or more) of their adult lives subsidized by their parents. Far more scraped by on six figures of education and flying debt at $18k-$35k/year. If you were lucky you got to see upgrade in a few years and make marginally more while the cost of everything skyrocketed. Congrats on getting in at a time a roof over your head didn’t eat into half your paycheck. I’m sure you worked hard, but you were also fortunate. Let’s not get all bootstrappy about it.
