There will only be 3,600 Captain positions left after this displacement. Out of 13,000 pilots. You do the math.

1591 total being displaced. Last displacement of about 4700 pilots resulted in about 2300 guys forced into Bus/737 right seat. So, this could result in another 800 or so being forced into Bus/737 right seat (I'll take some time later to try and make a more precise guess). Sets us up for furloughs in the neighborhood of 3100. The hits just keep on coming...

3600 captains
most likely 3600 FOs add 750 IROs
add 10 percent management and instructors 795
add 10 percent for vacation sick coverage 795
Add 400 to replace retirements
Total
9145 active seniority pilot for summer 2021 and on the list come October and if you add the LTDs around 300 then
9445 should be safe + or - 10% if they want for quicker recovery
My guess

A little early for that but we'll see...I'll give him a little more leeway and make my decision come summer time.

It appears this displacement along with the next TWO displacements is in preparation for a much deeper than 30% reduction. Perhaps posturing for absolute worse case with option to cancel displacements. Not sure if that’s really the most efficacious way of dealing with this constantly moving target.
