Any line value rumors for next summer? I’m guessing 70-ish.

Here's my unfortunate guess:

5-B-1-a-(1) When any Pilot is on Involuntary Furlough, the LPA for a Category shall be no less than seventy-four (74) Line Credit hours and no greater than eighty-two (82) Line Credit hours, set to the nearest minute.

That is not correct for a VOLUNTARY which was the question, correct?

"C-1-d

Notwithstanding Section 7-A-2, the Pilot shall be recalled to the Category from which he was furloughed, provided that either he has sufficient seniority to hold that Category or there is an unfilled vacancy in that Category. If that Category no longer exists or if the above conditions are not satisfied, he shall be afforded a displacement bid in accordance with Section 8-E."

In contrast, an involuntarily furloughed pilot is at the mercy of the class drop (just like a new hire.)

Correct. If you have the seniority to return to your prior seat, you WILL upon recall from VF.

Read through the stuff slowly. It’ll make sense.

I also need to mention last recall era, those that took the TPA job on the LCAL side off of VF did have the option of staying where there were once officially recalled to LUAL. That was part of the TPA.

early outs

Thanks for doing the math and since this thread is about early outs how many "eligible" Ual pilots will take it? I'm thinking if we're lucky best case scenario is half so that's only 550 pilots! IMO that's not a lot of help for the cause. Don't get me wrong it's better than nothing but this deal seems too restrictive & really won't save that many pilots from furlough. I'm a two time furlough hoping to avoid furlough #3 & I would've liked to have seen an offer that more senior pilots would want to take!

my bet is we get 1100 total pilots that take all types of early outs or voluntary leaves

I think we’ll see 1100 guys take the early out (with others wanting to, but quota filled), and 1-200 Voluntary furloughs or leaves of absence.

Meanwhile SWA gets 24% of their pilot group to participate in early outs and short to long term leaves and here we are hoping we get maybe 10%. Bummer for those of us on the bottom 30% of the list that we won’t come anywhere close to those numbers.

Edit* I don’t mean to sound ungrateful for marginalize anyone that takes an early out or a long leave/partial COLA. I just can’t help but feel we missed a big chunk of the demographic that would have bailed no questions asked for a leave similar to Alaska or Hawaiian. We wouldn’t be seeing 100-200 takers, I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw closer to 1000-2000 pilots take a 6-12 month leave that acted as a MMSRL.

Speaking of SRL’s. Will this LOA affective kill a contractual SRL?

that’s what happens when you have a single fleet. It doesn’t matter how many SW gets to take its only one event for one pilot if they come up 1 CA short. Could you imagine if we lost 50% of our 787 pilots?

Valid point. But with such drastic displacements in progress, doesn’t it make it a bit easier for us to offer more aggressive short to long term leaves? Heck how many 756 guys have spent the entire summer dequaled making min guarantee and waiting for their next fleet training assignment?

It is a great offer for the 62+ year old pilots. What else did you expect to see to sweeten the deal?
