You'r up to speed after all. It was a quote of a former executive .... Forget which one and it doesn't matter.

A guy in ops in ORD came down to thank us for doing all the heavy lifting. The B787 is doing $50 million a week in cargo.

United is flying 48% of their domestic flight schedule of 2019.
So 30-35 cargo flights a day are a drop in the bucket.
Its a feel good number.

Cargo revenue went from 295M in the second quarter of 2019, to 402M in the second quarter of 2020. An increase of 36%. That’s good news, don’t get me wrong. But passenger revenue went from 10.4B B B Billion to 681M. A decrease of 93%. It takes a bunch of 100M’s to make up 9.8B. 😳

In an environment where revenue is scarce, I’ll take it wherever we can get it!!! It’s still better than zero? We’re doing better than any of the other Legacy Airlines.

That saying goes back even further than the DC-10 ANC operation. After the strike, UAL had a sizable cargo only fleet, 737 convertible planes. Quite a few DC-8's freighters. Dick Ferris when he sold the cargo planes said, "There's no money in cargo."

Soon after that, FedEx really got started. With quite a few of our old planes. DC-10's, and pretty much the whole 727 fleet. I could also mention UPS buying a whole bunch of DC-8-71's, same plane UAL had just gotten rid of....

But still, a bright spot. I have also done quite a few cargo flights. I do like them.
