I agree! Mental maturity leads to contentment against all odds.

AA is also stopping PVG layovers due to customs and hotel concerns. They were running cargo flights with layovers on their 787's.

physically sleeping on the planes? I was thinking the way to remedy was carrying relief crews on the flight and just swap when duty day ends... but that would require a contractual waiver and blessing of the FAA.

The duty day of the relief crew would begin the same moment it does for the flying crew, so that wouldn’t work.

If only they could find some way to run them Part 91. Then they could hire old guys off the street to fly em on a contract basis. Fly in, drop the junk, and fly back.

Say, twenty grand per trip?

Define "current". I think I could still make it go and stop.

The company has been paying through the nose to get these flights done. There’s a note in the lounge at the hotel in GUM joking that beer must be replaced at the ratio of premium pay each guy is receiving. My trip last week had everyone at 100% except my poor reserve butt only at 50%.

The ‘Rona has been very good to the widebody fleet. Thanks again to the dude who came up with the cargo operation.

I think that was Jan Krems who got us the head start with the cargo ops. He came from klm I think.
