Requirement to be able to bid Captain;

AND

And a combination of 500 hrs of;

other 121 time (PIC or SIC), MIL PIC (multi-pilot fixed-wing multi-engine) as required by Part 91K/135 PIC

AND

Between the UPA requirements and the FOM that seems to cover almost everyone off probation, not that seniority would allow awards at the lower end. Funny how quickly things change.

False, there are some wickets you need to hit in order to be able to hold CA. (Hours, term of service). Know several guys on mil leave unable to bid CA because of this.

That being said, once you come back from mil leave you can pick anything you would've been able to hold during your mil service. You will be presented a form with all of the vacancies you were able to hold during your mil leave, and you pick which one you want (or return to your previous seat).

So let’s assume I were able to hold a NB CA seat on a previous vacancy bid while on mil leave. If had stayed active at the airline, would have been displaced from that CA seat, but now my seniority isn’t enough that i am senior to anyone being grandfathered back to that same NB CA seat (at least on this vacancy).... would I still be allowed to bid that specific seat and be awarded it upon my return? Assuming I was to come back right now and this latest vacancy bid speaks to what people’s seniority will allow.

Maybe I’m over thinking this..... obviously PDR is the right answer, but wanting to see what others think.

You would still have to be senior to the most junior on the award. Grandfather rights are still limited to the number of vacancies/backfills.

Are they backfilling the 787 with this bid? I saw the min max was 355/455 and they must have lost over 50 so far, would the back fills be grandfather rights as well? whos on first?

they have to backfill if it goes below 355, and yes it would be grandfathered first.

So there are some unfilled seats on the snapshots...traditionally this means new hires, but I can’t imagine that to be the decade here. Anyone can shed light on this?

One place to look is SFO320FO. The min is set to 90, but if you look through the snapshots you will see that the bottom 100 or so don’t have seniority to bid to anything else. I imagine EWR is the same and it’s probably not limited to the Bus. When the award comes out we’ll see what the real numbers are in the junior categories and how many vacancies there actually are.

My brain is shot after all or the moving pieces of displacements, re-do, displacements, vacancies.

SFO 756 displaced to ORD 756, not activated but showing as starting position but still
staffed SFO 756. Can I bid EWR 777 and not have a freeze? SFO 756 reopens in 6 months for example, if I have a freeze will grandfather rights be an option to get back to SFO 756?

I read and re-read this stuff by nothing seems to stick. Maybe time to dry out? Thanks for anyone who can clarify what my options would be.
